Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

With so many bargains/vouchers/codes floating around I very rarely pay more than $15 a bottle for any wine. The last year ive stocked up with Blue Pyrenees Estate Red at under $8, Cramptons around $9, Reynella Cellar around $4, Dandelion/Heirloom around $7-9. Wynns Black Label, and Leconfield Cab at sub $15. Its hard to consider a $15rrp wine with those bargains around.

Mind you, I'm always happy to pay that little extra to support my favorites, such as Epsilon, straight from the winery.
To me, It's hard to find a code or voucher. where do you normally get it?

Usually this thread - qaz has especially helpful posts, or ozbargain, or referral credits from family/friends, sometimes Groupon vouchers, and occasionally buy a CM voucher on gumtree

Ulithorne Familia Shiraz 2017
A gorgeous 5 Red Star Halliday-Rated Winery McLaren Vale Shiraz from Ulithorne, this sumptuous red is overflowing with plump black fruits, a lash of pepper and a touch of cedar spice. "This is so delicious it's hard to put the glass down", the Dan Murphy's Wine Panel declared in their 95-Point review – we'd be inclined to agree.

Gibson Old Vine Barossa Shiraz 2013
Rich, dark and decadent, this stunning Shiraz from 5 Red Star Halliday-Rated Winery Gibson is complex, spicy and elegant and just calling out to be savoured for a long evening spent with great friends and conversation. "...Plush and eminently drinkable," said James Halliday, who awarded it 96 Points, "Vinous. Forceful. Fresh."

Iron Cloud Rock of Solitude Purple Patch GSM 2016
An absolute beauty of a Grenache Shiraz Mataro, this lovely blend is matured in French oak for ten months before being blended. With 95 Points from James Halliday and his high praise, this "lithe and lacy wine" deserves pride of place in your cellar today.

Murray Street Vineyards Benno 2005
Produced only in extraordinary years, Murray Street's 94-Point Halliday-Rated Benno is a Shiraz Mataro blend that goes down a treat over spring and summer evenings. Eminently smooth and sumptuously fruit-forward, it's an impeccably rich and robust red that does credit to both of its varietals with confidence.

Rockcliffe Singlesite Shiraz 2015
A concentrated Shiraz of beautiful, fruit-forward flavour, this lovely drop from the Great Southern region is a dream paired with Moroccan spiced lamb – or any other rich meat straight off the grill. The perfect blend of subtly sweet and deliciously savoury, it's velvety smooth and oh, so enjoyable.

Sorby Adams The Reverend Canon Cabernet Shiraz 2015
Lush and delightful, this Cabernet Shiraz blend is rich, aromatic and complex with an intriguing mix of plump dark berries, tart cherry, silky chocolate and a touch of liquorice. This full-bodied red is sure to be a sensation at all your holiday soirées.

I'm in. The Sorby Adams alone is valued at $75.

Pretty good value. Includes one of the best St Henri's in the past 50 years, which I recently saw on sale for $299.

Did anyone get this?
Wondering how good the Meshach 2010 actually is.. Halliday gave it 96 points.
Or the Octavius (JH 94).
I have some of the Old Block and St Henri of the same vintage in the cellar already, so the appeal is somewhat limited.

Is this a good buy or a really great buy?

Yep I got it and yep it is a really great buy! IMHO of course.

20181113_125058_resized.jpg In DM catalogue which starts Thurs Nov 15:

6 x Wolf Blass Grey Label Shiraz + 1 x Wolf Blass Black Label Cabernet/Shiraz/Malbec for $180.

It's time to get back to the topic at hand.

Please be careful about using acronyms that could be seen as getting around the censor. If you wouldn't type it out, it might not be appropriate.

Can it be swap to the cab shira rather than just straight Shiraz?
Unlikely. If you read the ad it specifically states the shiraz. And you check the DM website you'll see those two wines have a different price point:

https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_25890/wolf-blass-grey-label-shiraz
https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_710366/wolf-blass-grey-label-cabernet-shiraz

Looks like a good buy, wonder what the vintages are?

If you have any experience with DM, you'll be aware of the randomness of this. But I would normally expect the grey label to be the 2016 and the black label to be the 2013.

Note the standard disclaimer on DM sites about vintages:

'* Vintages may vary from store to store and when delivered. Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is displayed, however variations can occur.'

The catalogue itself has some standard disclaimers which include:

'Excludes cellar release'
'Vintages may vary'

You buy from DM accepting this to be the case and in my view have limited right to object.

The straight Shiraz is quite boring to drink, I will give it a pass.
