Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

As promised, here's my Langtons Mystery Mixed Dozen line up with an average bottle price of $50:

Here's the lineup for the cheaper $299 box (average $25/bottle), as I missed out on the $599 boxes this year. Solid lineup without anything too special, but everything's worth ~$25 (maybe some a few bucks less, but a few that are definitely worth more):

Voyager Estate Cabernet Merlot 2011
Warrenmang Black Puma Shiraz 2006
Heirloom McLaren Vale Shiraz 2014
Howard Park Leston Vineyard Shiraz 2012
Riposte The Sabre Pinot 2014
MSV Cabernet 2009
Grant Burge Filsell 2014
Vickery Eden Valley Riesling 2016
Giant Steps Chardonnay 2015
Howard Park Chardonnay 2015
Fraser Gallop Paterre Cabernet 2013
Twelftree Grenache 2014

For those who like Laurance wines ( with their fancy bottles) from Margaret River they have quite a good sale this weekend. (ie 2013 shiraz $195 down to $124 6 pack -2013 Icon Cabernet $288 down to $188 6 pack -2013 Chardonay $180 down to $117 6 pack etc)

Didn't they have a 2-for-1 sale on just about everything last year (before Diane sold up)? Maybe offloading some old stock whilst they make way for a rebranding or something. Frankly I find the bottles a bit of a PITA - look nice, painful to store.

EDIT 2: DAVINCI code does not want to work.

EDIT 3: Just chatted to MWG and DAVINCI10 will get 2010 down to $74.99

DAVINCI worked when I posted my comment at 1pm but it seems to have been deactivated around 2-3pm when they released DAVINCI10 :(

DAVINCI came out 2wks ago with the 2008 vintage which subsequently sold out and so became valid for the 2010

Given this, perhaps you could nicely ask Simon to kindly honour the $69.99 deal? :)

Just had a look at their website and FB page and couldn't see any details about the sale, where do you find out...? OK, added 6 bottle of the shiraz to the cart and can see the discount down to $124 but the postage is a bit ahem, sobering to regional Australia, $30 , it's still $25 to major capital cities which I'm assuming counts Hobart out....

I was chatting online to a rep - no idea who it was - and indicated that DAVINCI was not working and so they gave me DAVINCI10 - I then told them I could buy it cheaper from Cracka at $72.20 - whomever I was talking to showed no inclination to drop the price to match or beat so Cracka it was.

There is going to be 2500 dozen Moss Wood 2014 released on May 1st that has scored the highest ever score from a wine writer. I think it is to be around $128 a bottle.
Probably a great investment seeing it will be sought after.
My taste buds like Moss Wood and Diana Madeline now that 707 has been priced out.
Warning: This is not financial advice!

They certainly made a fancy video about it!

Would this be available just direct from them?
cheers

Its been available to members for about 3 weeks, $115.20

Yes I bought a dozen this morning thanks Steady. No point paying $480 less discounts for the 707 is what I am thinking.

Yes you enroll as a friend and log in on their reply if you are not already a member. I phoned to confirm 10% off is their deal.
Yes it still is when you go direct. I didn't want to wait because some investor might take a few pallets seeing it is about 25% of the 707 price.
One of my regrets is not having bought enough 707 and Hill of Grace before the prices zoomed.
I think both the Diana Madeline and this Moss Wood can work nicely with my taste buds as great substitutes.

99pts from Ray Jordan

If there was ever a wine critic who is not impartial it is Ray Jordan. He sits on so many boards of wine companies and has vested interests it is beyond a joke. Wine critics and scores that get published really should have a disclaimer of any financial or vested interest.

Apparently Ray Jordan does not have his scale go to 3 digits.
I would have gone 100 for the 1990 Hill of Grace and the 1972 Wynns a long time ago. They are both gone from my cellar.
Disclaimer: I had shares in Evans & Tate when it went bust!
