Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

That's one way of looking at it. At least the brand Maverick is still there.
Not like what's on at GetWinesDirect now for $12/bottle from $100 declassify fruits ;)

Can you share who's advertising/selling these aged vintages please? I'm sure there's quite a few here interested in buying.

Kemeny's, BWS, First Choice, Dan Murphys, Liquorland, Nicks, Greys, Vinomofo, Langtons, etc. I'm sure there's no where that you've never heard of. You need to actually keep an eye out, rather than expect the deal to come to you.

Do you have any examples you can share?

There's not a lot of point as each of these deals has finished.

But since you have asked, from the pack listed in post #2802 I can confirm that I have seen/purchased myself the following items in 2015:

Tahbilk Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 for under $10 a bottle (Dan Murphy's cellar clearout - store specific)

Wynns The Siding Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 for under $10 a bottle (Kemenys)

Thanks for sharing. Do you remember if these were single bottle buys? or a case buy? I guess the DM sale was single bottles. What abotu Kemeny's?

The 2012 Wynns Sidings cabernet is still available at Kemeny's by the bottle or case, with beer freebies if you buy a case.

Thanks roshea. That is the 2012, rather than the 2010 though. And the hidden label version. But a great example of how doing a bit of looking around reveals some bargains.

For Kemeny's shopping, nothing beats visiting the store. They seem to 'loose' a lot of items for years and when they 'rediscover' them they put them back out on the shelves at huge discounts - seemingly thinking there's something wrong with them - old stock that must be deleted. I think the grocery people sometimes do this without understanding of what they are doing and the wine section probably is horrified when/if they discover what has happened.

Single bottle from memory. Would likely have been further discounts for larger quantities.

Anybody with any knowledge of Lallier Champagne?

Reviews

'A nonvintage wine based around the 2012 vintage (R stands for Récolte or harvest), this ripe wine is dominated by Pinot Noir. It has good balance between yellow and pear flavors and crisp citrus acidity. The tangy, mineral texture binds everything together. It is ready to drink.' 91 Points, Wine Enthusiast Buying Guide, 2015
'I was intrigued by this new wine. It’s a non-vintage Champagne from Lallier, but it’s particularly honest about its component parts. Francis Tribaut, the owner/winemaker at Lallier has decided to label it R.012, indicating that it’s mostly from the 2012 vintage. But by using reserve wines – in this case 19% of the blend is from 2008, 2004 and 2002 – he’s creating a wine which captures the character of the vintage, but with the benefit of older wines to achieve greater complexity, or to make up for something missing in this particular vintage. It’s a blend of 62% Pinot Noir and 38% Chardonnay, with 85% of the blend coming from Grand Crus.
Champagne Lallier R.012 NV
12.5% alcohol. This house is based in Aÿ, and the blend is 62% Pinot Noir, 38% Chardonnay. 81% of the wine is from the 2012 vintage. Very fruity with a citrus and apple nose, showing a bit of toastiness and some sweetness to the fruit. Very appealing: this is quite a rich style that’s creamy, bold and spicy. Easy to enjoy.' 90/100, Jamie Goode
4 stars Decanter Magazine: ‘R.012 is a new direction for Lallier; a polished and scintillating diamond with more carats per fluid ounce than many a Grande Marque.’

Sarah Jane Evans, BBC Good Food Magazine: ‘In my blind tasting this grower's Champagne came right up the top against stiff competition. Snap it up quickly. And then remember the name for next time.’

The above for R12
