It only has to land by 2300, and the normal schedule takes into account taxi-times and so on.

I am on this same flight in June (after the Swans beat the Weagles) so I am thinking the same way you are.

If it landed at 22:57 ( rather than arrived at gate) then I would say that it was quite fine at 3 mins before curfew

I doubt the captain would have left if there was an expectation of being after the curfew.

Sounds like they tweaked it just the right amount. Cruise as long as possible in the jetstream, delay TOD as long as possible and make a quick decent on as straight an approach as possible. They almost had time for a quick circuit over the harbour before curfew .
