How is the steak, by the way? Decent quality?

Also, curious to see the current wine list. Then again, I'll be in SYD FLounge next Thurs so I could just be patient... but where's the fun in that? :D
I wish I could tell you. I’m just noting it from a post above. I’m yet to try it.

I expect it tastes a lot like a regular steak but with a heavy dose of Qantas’ hyperbole giving it the illusions of being fancy and making the diner think it’s better than it really is.

But I’m a carnivore, so I’m just pleased there’s an actual meat option.

Agree it is overhyped and always thought it a poor choice for a special menu item - last couple of times when someone in my travelling party had it they were both disappointed. A couple next to me the other day sent theirs back. Perhaps more regular production will make it better.

Sashimi also used to be on every menu but has (largely) been limited to the special menu of late.

I like the look of the new menu - thanks to all for sharing pics too.

When the lounges opened in 2007, there were two menus. The smaller menu was a subset of the main menu gernerally with a sashimi based dish and other more appertiser types. Minute steak was a staple.

Before my time hanging out in F lounges. Or any lounge for that matter! OT - but was the smaller menu "exclusive" in any way - or just based on location/convenience in the lounge?

There was nothing exclusive (other than actually being admitted to the lounge in the first place :) ). The smaller menu was profferred to those who did not take up a table in the restaurant area.

Some would do the experience of pre dinner drinks/snacks from the smaller menu before heading to the the tables.

In later years, the small menu was done away with and those sitting at couches were given a full menu as is the case today.

There was a market specials section within the large menu (in a box) which would often rotate based on availability, often had sashimi and other interesting specials
