Dropped catches are embarassing. Also very crucial.

Catches win matches?

I always feel confident when Smith is in the middle. As for some of the others I almost have to look away whenever a ball is bowled. Warner couldn't have picked out the fieldsman better. Watto really worried me but came through with a big dose of luck. Clarke showed his dodgy back still isn't up to the short ball.

So on to Aus vs India as predicted. Aus batting first should be able to pile up a good score and defend it. The question is can they chase a good score at the SCG? India is capable of producing it with their batting line-up. If I'm lucky I might be able to attend this game (thanks to a corporate friend).

NZ vs Windies today. Anyone backing the Windies? If they win today they'll get flogged by SA in the semi I'd bet.

Martin Guptill has just brought up the highest individual score in a World Cup

He's number 2 in all time ODIs, never mind CWC. Amazing as he was not good at all in the warmup ODIs against SL, three ducks in seven matches. Also the first Kiwi ever to carry the bat in an ODI.

Following along while jetlagged back here in the States :D.

I did post that before he went past Sehwag

I missed most of Guptills innings but 350+ was brilliant. Gayle was their greatest hope, but could only stand and deliver. They all scored well but missed out. NZ into the semis

Against a tough opponent in SA.

Listened to NZ's (read Guptill's) innings on radio. Unbelievable. Maybe he's peaked...

NZ bowlers got hammered apart from Boult - they all went for 10 an over or more while he went for about 4.

First semi tomorrow. Should be the game of the tournament I'm thinking. SA vs NZ in NZ (Wellington?) I do wonder if any team could chase down a 350+ total if required. It seems the team batting first racks up a huge total and the other team is out or they bowl them out for under 250 and it's a walk in the park. A few exceptions (Aus-NZ) but not many in this WC.

Game is at Eden Park in Auckland, the Black Caps QF was in Wellington though. I wonder if any team could chase 350+ as well.

And I think anyone who carries the bat for 237* has probably peaked :D. If he even reaches half of that total it would be fantastic for NZ, hopefully for the Kiwis there are still more runs left in Guptill's bat.

So many cricket fans in Auckland today. Forecast not flash. Hope it doesn't turn into a farce.

They have a spare day for all finals but I'm not sure at which point they invoke it. If there's some rain the overs get pared back and our friends Duckworth & Lewis get involved. But if they can't get 20 overs per side in then they use the spare day to finish it? I'm sure someone knows.

Eden Park is rather small so there could be some big totals. Mind you 150 was almost a big total when Aus played NZ there.
