Was looking at a booking up Brisbane way, and got this message:

BNEHCCI_bigName.gif

130 William Street, Brisbane, 4000, Australia | Tel: 61-7-3306-8888
Guest Fax: 61-7-3306-8880
As of April 10, 2010 this hotel is no longer affiliated with Conrad Hotels and Resorts. All existing and confirmed reservations will be honored.

Wonder what it is becoming.....

Very interesting article:

By Jupiter! Casino decides to stand on its own Local Business | goldcoast.com.au | Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia

CONRAD Jupiters is set for some name-dropping and, in the process, end a 25-year link with the international hotel chain Hilton.

Tabcorp has decided against tying itself to a new hotel brand and plans to simply rename the property Jupiters Hotel and Casino.

The same will apply to Tabcorp's Brisbane property, Conrad Treasury, which will become Treasury Casino and Hotel.

Not surprising, Townsville has been standalone for a while after leaving SPG and Hilton will have a new Surfers property next year and already have the Brisbane property.

Casinos and Hotel managers are often placed at conflict when it comes to guest treatment, for instance if you are in the position to upgrade a customer do you upgrade the one that stays with you 50 nights a year or the one time visitor that has just committed to spend $1M in gambling turnover. By taking away the Hotel manager the casino does not have to meet the hotel chains elite guest promises.

I often think IC Burswood has that problem, for instance they have two clubs, Club Intercontinental and the Peral Room, both with lounges on the 9th floor, both with customers who would probably prefer one of the few suites available, not everyone is going to be happy as a result!
