Hi,

So I'm arriving in Changi at 7:35pm (QF81) and am currently looking for onwards connection to CGK. One option would be to take the Jetstar/Valuair flight at 8:30pm (VF205) - so effectively 55mins between the two flights. As I understand it Jetstar does have a transfer desk airside in SIN for passengers arriving on another Qantas flight, and had this been on the same PNR there would've been no problems with interlining.

Questions (if anyone has done something similar in SIN before):
- If going without checked-in luggage, is this connection possible? Would Qantas in SYD be able to issue the Jetstar BP?
- If going with checked-in luggage, is this connection possible? :)

I know that either way it's super risky, but I want to know what are my chances to make it :-|

Thanks!

55 mins is way too tight though IMO - connecting between QF and 3K is possible without clearing immigration but you will be picking up the boarding pass in SIN, i have done this arriving qf and the 3k leg 6 hours later

Checked baggage probably wouldnt work on this itinerary either either though they should be able to route it between flights at the transit desk without you collecting and rechecking.

I agree - too tight a connection for separate tickets.

Have you already bought ADL-SIN on QF? If not, then to save all the hassle, just buy ADL-SIN-CGK on the VF flight you want on the same ticket. That way you won't need to worry about anything in SIN. If you have got the ticket, then investigate reissuing it to include the SIN-CGK.

The Qantas fares from ADL to CGK permit VF use, so there is no problem combining the two airlines on the same ticket.

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately the it's SYD-SIN via ADL return which has been booked (with the Expedia Brazil trick) sometimes back. It would've costed 3x the amount had I bought SYD-CGK. I guess alternatively I can stay for a night in Singapore (burning the Hilton points before it devalues at the end of March :-|) or take a later AirAsia flight that departs at 10pm.

such is the bizarre nature of Jetstar Asia I'm afraid - they really have very little integration with mainline QF timetable for connections

I guess the post-April QF Singapore flight changes will see more flights arriving at 4-5pm, which will mean more flexibility to make such connections.

not sure there would be much difference really - 3K operates their network to avoid overnighting crew wherever possible - the evening flights are sparse

Gievn the ownership structure (Jetstar Asia being a separate entity), scheduling co-ordination requires approvals that were only granted fairly recently in the scheme of things.

yes you're right - i guess it's a little odd it took them so long to apply for the necessary approvals but i note now that that the 3K timetable seems to be offline so hopefully they are doing some network planning to improve connections.
