[Confirmed Fixed - Maybe Not!] No LHR T5 Galleries access for QP before BA/QF flights

I'm pretty sure that you will be denied access irrespective of whether the QP access is re-instated by then.
I was turned away from T5 as WP/OWE with an extra 6 year old in September. Written confirmation from BA that extra guests are not permitted

I was asked by the dragons at galleries F if I was after the J lounge as a OWE... :evil:

That is my knowledge of how BA handle things. The T&Cs of their lounges are vastly different (for children) than the QF T&Cs. Unfortunately (or fortunately for those who have an allergy to children!), this means that BA isn't as flexible as QF are with children.

Out of interest how were you dressed and who were you flying? I have never had a problem accessing an F lounge at any port flying any carrier flying in any class (generally J) when traveling as a WP. I don't know how I do it or what is so special about me but I am never challenged. The only issues I have had have been accessing the LHT T3 AA AArivals lounge when they had to read the access rules three times before they let me in (I was flying BA PE) and when I tried to get two guests into the Wing (only allowed one officially but in the end I did get two in).
 
:shock: You lived to tell the tale! Not one of the better traveling experiences for me.

I didnt have any choice - was on my way to a funeral :(

On the flip side I was sat next to the most charming and attractive young lady that I have ever travelled next to. I guested her into the BKK F lounge.

If you had no luck as WP it is pretty clear we would not stand a chance! Thanks anyway!!

My experience at T5 a few weeks ago was the same - the dragons there are utterly fierce about the rules :evil:. Travelling with PartnerJohnM's two young twenty-somethings and there were no concessions whatsoever. Even as the female of the pair stalked off with lower lip trembling, not the slightest bit of mercy was shown. They were clearly under explicit instructions. Managed to to talk the BA F lounge dragon at T3 into letting us into the F lounge as a family a couple of weeks prior, and was told how he knew QF were more relaxed on such things, but given a lecture about never again.

OK, fair enough, rules are rules - but it just seems that BA is the only part of the OW alliance that takes them SO seriously even for obvious family groups. It's the inconsistency that drives one nuts :evil: (although if the rest of the partners were as consistent as BA, it would be horrible :mrgreen:).

Hmmm, sounds like me and PartnerJohnM: me in 1A and PJM somewhere else on the same bird...:shock: :mrgreen:.

No - in my case she was sat next to me but I prefer to say she was travelling with me rather than just sitting next to me.

I think this is where some sensitivity on your part to cultural differences is needed :mrgreen: I once was travelling in the south of England with 3 under 7 and came across a coffee shop that said (can't remember exact wording) - Dogs welcome - no children.

What I think should happen in the interests of fairness is that BAEC Golds and family are given exactly the same response when trying to get into the Flounge or even J Lounge after flying in from LHR.

I would have thought having 20 something children (read adults) even in Australia is starting to push the boundries a little. Little bit different to have a tribe under 10 for example.

I agree - we were very grateful that QF, IB and CX let us in. I had forewarned the 'kids' that it may not happen. However, we were clearly a family group so I was expecting or hoping for some flexibility.

The point I was trying to make is that BA was the greatest stickler for the rules whereas the others showed more flexibility.
 
Quick update just to let you know that we have not forgotten just been a minor delay. Will come back to you again next week.

Well we're at the end of the week. Any news? Anything?

Flyertalk in particular seems to have accounts of further confirmation that Qantas Club members are in a whole lot of trouble at LHR T5/Galleries lounges worldwide.
