I've just visited the Hobart QP and the Sydney QP (and Melbourne but didn't observe) and the computers used there.. are quite terrible!

Only IE. Very slow computers. Fairly slow internet speeds. They look old.

I guess I expected QP's to have decent computers for business travellers that might need to do some quick things like check emails or look up some documents. But it struggled to load GMail, let alone AFF and let's not talk about Facebook!

It's not just me is it?

Yes I agree the computers are pretty awful. I guess most people, myself included travel with their own netbook, laptop, iPad etc and only need QP wi-fi.

Have used the QP computers from time to time - often travel nowadays with the laptop in the booked luggage rather than having to get it out of the carry-on for checking, etc etc etc

Haven't found too many hassles - might be old computers on a network, but they loaded up wbemail quite fast, and even AFF was quick - maybe it was Hobart, maybe it was the time of day, maybe the number of people using it - and who knows, it just might have been the user, as was raised (perhaps with a self-depricating smile) in the OP.

Hahaha, I was very much inclined to believe that Hobart was the main cause for this problem. It was 8:45 AM with no one else using the computers so I was quite disappointed with how slow AFF was loading at that time! But when I went to the QP at Sydney T2 (maybe that was the reason?) and saw the same computers.. I grew even sadder :(

I don't have a laptop that is light enough to bring with me on my travels so I'm resigned to using the ageing computers in the lounge.

Any other comments on the other lounges? Maybe the business lounges have speedier computers! Eventually I'll make my way to all the other lounges..

Side note: Are QPNB allowed access to T3 QP when travelling JQ from T2 in Sydney, time permitting? I was going to try today, but I was in a bit of a rush and just had time for some wait for it.. tomato juice :p

Absolutely. But there is a QP in T2 which i think is less crowded most of the time.

Get an iPad ;). Seriously though i think the issue is more likely to be the Internet connection rather than the computers given that you were checking out gmail rather. Than complex applications.

Were these windows based machines or iMacs

And therein lies the problem, they keep getting moved about. :p

Some of the larger QP's have both PC's and Mac's - neither use Firefox.

I travel with a USB drive which I can plug into most PC's and run FF on them with all my favourites/bookmarks/auto-completes available. ;)

Love what some people leave on the QPs computers, Sophie Rice, if you are reading this I have just deleted your high tea invitation with address and phone number on from one of the J lounge computers in CBR!
