compensation for missed flights due to travel agent error

I'm not suggesting for a second that you're wrong when you say it's not right that someone should have to predict checkin situations beyond their control, what I am arguing is that it is what it is, right or wrong, you turn up under 30 mins with QF, DJ and JQ and you (in most cases) wont be on the flight.

I've missed a QF flight for being 2 mins under the time before, and was turned away and send back from BNE to the Gold Coast and told to return the next morning as it was the last flight...was I happy? hell no! but it is what it is, you just have to make the best of a bad situation.

In an ideal world, i'd be flying on my Gulfstream, but as it is until I manage to afford one i'm stuck on commercial so put up with the cough that comes with flying with the GP.

Absolutely, no problem!

I think all are agreed that you need to arrive at the check in area before the advertised check in cut off time, and definitely not after it!!!

The debate gets harder when saying just how much before that is required (rather than say recommended or preferred).

When you get that Gulfstream, please give a us a ride! Promise to bring a carton of crownies!!! ;)

Actually it's very good drinking from a South Australian vineyard, bought from a very reputable online auction site, sure this stuff is in a screwcap bottle but it's quite respectable-maybe not up to Qantas F Lounge standard but still good value.
(Sorry moderators for going O/T)

Screwcaps are great, they ensure consistency.

Speaking from the position of consuming a not quite right bottle of Grange. (but not quite bad enough to pour out ;))

Indeed. Obviously there would not be a problem with check in times if there was a coughail and canape service for those forlorn folk festering in the the queue. In fact more pax would arrive early under the intoxicating promise of an idle dram.

Is this the new off topic thread :?:

.... and I'm not talking about the wine comments :!:
Nah, 'tis just that some of platy's post are rather verbose (he is getting a reputation for such) and it's sometimes easy to forget where/when/how/why the thread came from/started/originated ... :p

........actually platy's version of the thread over dinner tonight was better than the thread itself :!:
