Sorry for the long post.
I was happy when I managed to book the last available classic business award seat from SYD-TPE via Brisbane for myself and my infant daughter to travel in mid Dec this year.
I got an email from China airline last week and said my Brisbane to taipei flight has been cancelled due to operational changes. No email or notification from Qantas.
Knowing there is no other available business classic reward seats, I have kept calling both Qantas and China airline to find solutions. Went through a few really unhelpful South African call centre agents (who told me I should call China airline as they cancelled my flight, not Qantas) but I managed to get a hobart/nz one in the end.
Eventually my flight was changed to the day before the original date but it is waitlisted. I have had that ticketed but was told Qantas is not responsible for the availability of China airline reward seats and it’s up to China airline.
I called China airline multiple times and the feeling I got was they are not planning to release more award seats and they are not doing manual clearance and basically I can only wait for someone who booked award seat to cancel their seat.
I have seen post here saying Qantas can ask other airline to release reward seats in rare occasions. How do people manage that? Can you please share your experience?
Thank you heaps!!
