Clarification of points earning

Sorry about the formatting but it is the bolded bit I'm more interested in anyway. Is someone able to clarify the meaning here for me?

Is it saying that on EK flight numbers, you can only earn if flying them on QF metal? And EK flight numbers on EK metal do not earn to QFF?

Not in those words, but it is effectively what is says. If you're on an EK flight number on an EK plane, you're not on a codeshare.

The same goes for Oneworld flights, even if it is a codeshare as long as it is a codeshare with QF or another OW partner than that is fine.
For eg. I know on some routes that CX operate, JL codeshares on those routes, so no matter if you're booked on the CX code on CX metal or JL code on CX code you would still get points.

I believe it actually does indicate [say] that.

You have to first realise the left hand column relates to the Carrier marketing the flight (i.e. Flight numbers). It has nothing to do with the operating carrier (metal).

Once past that it is quite simple: "EK [Flight number]" & "Excluded: Points are not earned on Codeshare Flights operated by an airline other than Qantas."

Deeper Explanation?

If you have an EK flight number, it can be either

1. operated by EK or
2. a codeshare operated by a carrier other than EK.

1. is not relevant to the codeshare exclusion, so points can be earned in the indicated classes (EK number and Metal).

2. relates to codeshares, so if operated by a carrier other than Qantas then the Exclusion kicks in. (And just to enforce this, by definition you can't have a codeshare EK flight number on EK metal.)

I guess the most difficult part is to relalise the left hand column only relates to Flight Numbers (Marketing carrier).

I too have been confused by this and I am far from thick I think. In the Airline Earn Table a note saying that the Airline column in the Airline Earn Table is actually the marketing carrier not the operator owul;d clarify heaps. So I had never given any thought to flying on QF flight numbers on non One World metal until I realised this (tonight actually) - and that it generally earns status credits as well.

Is it right to assume that QF codeshares on EK metal do not earn QFF points? And the discount economy earn rate is poor on the cheaper booking classes.

Was checking for a friend who is booked on the QF codeshare on EK flights to/from BKK in June booked via Expedia. Must get him to insert his QFF number into booking before going to airport.
