CitiBusiness Gold 'no longer available'

After calling the 1300 number on the letter, I have been advised that the CitiBusiness card can be kept if I have an ABN and advise my card is used for business as well as personal use.

It appears that this enhancement may be about clearing out non-business users from this card.

So now I have to consider whether to go with the Signature @ 1.5:$ in Aus, 4:$ os and credit to Citi Rewards, Kris Flyer, Asia miles or Velocity; OR keep the CB @ 1.25:$ with the option to transfer to QFF as well as the others.

What are members thoughts on the value of the Citi Rewards program? I know they have cancelled the PMG and I believe you can't get RTW flights at the normal rate for points? Are the number of points for flight redemptions from Citi points comparable with those required for a Classic or a YASA/JASA?

JV

Thanks very much that is useful to know

Anyone know what happens to the existing points on CBG? if migrating to signature? wouldnt be worth it right?

BTW, it seems one can no longer transfer to qantas either? I am sure there used to be a page where there was a phone number to call.....

It says on the letter "All your existing reward points will be automatically transferred to your new signature card." So i would assume if you activate your signature card you would no longer be able to redeem for QFF.

I called when i first received the letter as it mentioned Business offerings and was intrigued on what they had but was advised i could continue with the card if i supplied ABN, legal entity name and Business types before September, which another poster has already mentioned. I also asked if the rewards program would remain the same and was advised it would remain exactly the same, so i would think no problems with redeeming to Qantas whilst the card is still active.

Interesting, my letter did not contain that statement about automatic transfer of points. Mine basically sounded like it is already changed to signature, as it talked about activation of card etc......

If your letter was titled "Your CitiBusiness Card is changing" then it is on the right hand side of the page below the picture of the signature card in the grey box, the last dot point.
When i first read the letter i didn't notice any of the points in that grey box.

you are absolutely right, I am going blind. Thanks for that :)

Thanks for the advice. I can confirm this as well. I called the 1300 number and spoke to Sally who took down my ABN, Co. Name and Industry Type and confirmed that nothing would be changing.

Thanks v. much.

I raised this a couple of months ago as I thought I used to be able to do this online. Was told to contact them directly. Would generally use the Gold Card number - 1800 168 168

Did you guys supply a ABN when signing up to the card? If I remember correctly. I supplied my ABN to them when I signed up.

I havent got the letter yet..... Though mail tends to be slow for me

Also this is strange on...

CITIBANK AUSTRALIA it says "However, you will no longer be able to transfer points to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program."

But on the main website Citibank Rewards Credit Card - Signature | Credit Cards - Citibank Australia "Earn 1 Qantas Frequent Flyer point per $1 spent on eligible purchases (automatically transferred to your Qantas Frequent Flyer accounts each month). A $49 annual Citibank Qantas Rewards fee applies[SUP]2[/SUP]"

Clearly I can only speak for my application.

I checked the form that I completed online and it doesn't appear that I did enter my ABN.

Just being curious, I called Citibank and the call centre agent said that QFF points earn from this card was still OK and offered to perform to transfer some points whilst I was on the phone if I wanted.

I think it is a case that if you opt in for Qantas then you direct earn straight to QFF and you can't warehouse your points in the Citibank program, i think that is the way that most cards have gone with Qantas, either all points direct earn in or none at all.
Have a look at this link (Sorry wont let me insert hyperlink with <10 posts)
citibank.com.au/aus/credit_cards/qantas_rewards.htm

Interesting ... then this card is pretty good then.... unlimited points earn + other things and 1.5points / $1 for velocity.

thanks flying fox for the number to call, will be getting my points out asap.

Signature is no good for qantas earn though, the annual fee is just too much for a 1:1 and no ATO. Furthermore, I know a few people who have fee free signature.

True.. but for velocity is pretty good.

So the demons in my head got the better of me and I decided to transfer the vast majority of my points to my QF account before something 'evil' happens.

Just completed a phone call using the 1800 168 168 and the points transfer process was completed without any problems. Will wait a few days to confirm that the points appear in my QF account.

I have 29058 points dunnot if i should transfer 20k now or wait till I get 30k lol

If you are worried (like I was); call now and transfer 20,000.

Once you get your additional 10,000 points, call and transfer those again.

This will minimise your exposure. As far as I know, there is no limit to the number of times that you can redeem your Citi points.

haha no bills to pay yet...

I just transferred 20k points. :)

Im always amazed that whenever I call up citibank the staff have always been polite and helpful. I dont know what and why people hate them so much. I find them much better than say ANZ or CBA or NAB going through those computer prompts etc...

Because you haven't got any difficult issues for them, transferring points is one of the easiest thing to do, and should be no problem as long as their system is working fine. If you are facing dispute charge, account issues, complaints etc. then you will have different conclusion.

As someone has mentioned if you speak to a Citibusiness person about the point transfer they will do it for you online without problems. Just transferred some points 1-2 weeks ago and they hit the account in 2-3 business days.
