Re: Citibank Signature 80k QFF signup bonus $299+$49, ends 31/03/14 [Extended - 3...

Honestly smashing my head against the desk with these people.

My points for the first month didn't transfer correctly… I'm on the phone with Citi who state "the name on your Citi account doesn't match your Qantas account". Qantas card states "Mr X Surname", Citi card is "FirstName Surname"

I'm being told they "need to update my Qantas account to "FirstName Surname". Not entirely sure how they are going to do that, but I've been told they can.

On hold - not surprisingly

**Update** - I've been told the only way to earn Qantas points is for me to call Qantas and have them "update the name on my card to "FirstName Surname"

Experienced identical scenario N860CR - had to update name in Citi account and wait til next statement cycle - that was yesterday and 80K pts now sitting in QFF acc - I will cancel card tomorrow.

By update do you mean just update the name in the rewards tab on online banking to the name displayed on your credit card? Or actually have your credit card reissued in the format of your frequent flyer card?

The supervisor at Citi is now "investigating" and will get back to me (like I don't have enough to do already) however his opinion seemed to be he'd have to change my entire Citi account to match the Qantas card and reissue everything.

I called Qantas for the hell of it… they laughed.

YES just need Citi to update your name on their back end - your name with Citi must be identical to your name in QFF account.

I updated my name online because it initially had First and Last names cough about - but then QFF acc has Mr at beg - Citi acc did not - they just added Mr in Citi acc and sweep went through no prob this month whereas QFF rejected it first time.

Thanks. I called them back and told them as much... It will be "investigated".

I swear, by the time I've finished I would have well and truly paid for these damn bonus points!

I feel your frustration my friend but never stress over Citi - any dealings with them has 80% chance of them stuffing something up - that is a given - when you sitting back in J on some flt in future you will be grinning from ear to ear as you down a couples of champers and all these wasted emotions will just be distant memories.

Agree without question. I'm just laughing about it. I find a glass of wine while on the phone helps.

I just keep asking for compensation every time they stuff something up! My theory is if I win, then it's a bonus, if not, no real loss.

I believe everyone will laugh in this country except Citi.

Interestingly enough, I also had an additional cardholder added to this account and the card was issued "Surname FirstName" without commas or anything.

I actually think the overseas staff who process these don't understand how our names are formatted

Yes. I told them I already had a different card with the same points systems. There were no extra incentives to keep the same card. :)

That's what I learnt from the guys in this thread ....

My mates have told me that the promo is now 60K ... is that true?
Nah it's still 80k. Just need to use the correct link. 60k is the standard offer which is still very good value
At one stage this was extended to 31 July but now back to 31 May

I had exactly the same thing happen - the points left the Citi account the night of the 6th and were there in my QFF account very early on the 7th. They called me up later that morning to gloat that the transfer had occurred. Woo hoo. Anyway, am very pleased that the ordeal is now over.

Called Citi to cancel - they offered refund of $299 annual fee back into CC - will keep open til I spend then call back and cancel - works for me!

Does anyone else just have the citi rewards option at the bottom of the application? There seems to be no option for Qantas points

I'm thinkin' only sensible thing to do here is go spend at RACV on Wish Cards then log onto Qwibble to secure some of that undrinkable Mumm from Dan's at $32.40/bott - how's my thinking Shintaro? Do I have your approval?

Game on Cruiser! Very few in the general community seem to wish and qwibble to get 14.6% off the champagne specials. Must be too hard for them.

Re: Citibank Signature 80k QFF signup bonus $299+$49, ends 31/03/14 [Extended - 31/05

Finally got my 80,000 points onto my qantas account after the same issue a lot of people seem to have had - citibank says rejected transfer first month due to name not matching my Qantas account. I noticed when I logged online to my account , they had my first name and surname the wrong way around under rewards details. (correctly printed on my card , account statements etc) So I updated that online, however it still didn't go through.
I had to call them to find out what the issue was. All we did was confirm that yes, my name is exactly the same on my qantas and citibank accounts, it should work, and funnily enough, month two, it went through.

I can't stand citibank, and have had nothing but issues with them.
The stupid 1990's old online banking (yes, now a bit better)
The one time pin rubbish (exacerbated by their stupid system constantly changing my mobile number back to my old number that I had 10 years ago when i first applied for a citibank account)
Overseas call centre with poor line quality, them not understanding me, me not understanding them.
I remember last time I had a citibank card, it took me 6 months to cancel the account (month after month having to post in a written letter requesting it closed - "No Mam, you can't do that over the phone or via email" (blows my mind the number of business that still conduct business via post or fax with no online/email functionality)

Would never recommend them to anyone, but for 80,000 points then close the account - sure.

need to opt in to QF when you call to activate the card

T&C's state " The bonus 80,000 Qantas Points offer is available to new Citibank Credit Cardholders "
Sounds like you may not be eligible as its for new Card holders. Wouldn't hurt to call them and ask. I am in a similar position holding the Citi Select, so I will just get the wife to apply for it and get the points.
