Citibank Reward Points to QFF

Possibly a special case (given he has a 'relationship manager'). The rewards program is still fee free (and actually it is for all cards!), its just if you want QFF points instead of what the Rewards program offers then you need to pony up.

Yes, all Citigold clients have relationship managers in Australia and I know a few people on here are Citigold members so it may be worth the email/call if you want to pursue the direct sweep option.

Hey guys new to this site, but find it very informative.

Can someone help me with the following?

Can you transfer Citi rewards points (platinum) to SPG? or Hilton?
What is the cap for earning points? does it change after 100k for example?
Does it strick any one else as strange the citi card is the only non amex card where you earn more then 1 QFF point per dollar spent?

Basically I have a Amex Platinum Charge card, Westpac Altitude Platinum and the Citi card arrive in 10 days. I ideally want to earl points now for accomodation ideally with starwood. However Amex has a 1:3 trasnfer rate which is ****! thats like 60k QFF points per night!

Any help?

tell me your thoughts boys!

After I read this thread, I wasn't so sure about the FACT of PRE-March and POST-March Citibank Rewards to QFF and end up called Citibank to clarify.

Hope this is useful and make it quite clear to everyone!

PRE-March (Before 31 Mar)

- All Citibank Credit Card Holder can transfer Citibank Reward Points to QFF in the block of 10,000 or above for FREE.

POST-March (After 31 Mar, i.e. from 1 April onwards)

- Only Citibank Platinum Credit Card can opt-in to have the Citibank Qantas Rewards which allow AUTOMATIC transfer points to QFF. Both Silver and Gold Credit Card member are NOT eligible to join Citibank Qantas Rewards.

- It cost $19 Annual Fee. NOT FREE.

In response to others who claim he/she can transfer Citibank Rewards Point into QFF UNDER 10,000 block, this is NOT TRUE. You are ONLY allowed to transfer any amount of point (eg 5000 points) during PRE-March period(from NOW till 31 Mar) IF you called Citibank and asked for opt-in for Citibank Qantas Rewards and you will be charged $19 Annual Fee.

So it is NOT FREE and it is NOT TRUE to say Citibank allowed you to transfer your Citibank Rewards Point to QFF under their minimum 10,000 point requirement before 31 Mar.

Best if you can start a new topic and/or read thread regarding to your query, while not posting a non-related question to this thread here.

I received a booklet today explaining the differences between Citibank Rewards and Citi Qantas Rewards Program but nowhere does it say there is a $19 annual fee if I choose the Citi Qantas Rewards Program option:confused:

I saw the updated terms and conditions today, which may be the booklet you refer to. Some nice little traps if you are not careful:

1) If you opt-in to QFF and don't advise the QFF number, you get nada until you provide the number (12.2)
2) If you opt out of the normal rewards program and into the Qantas rewards scheme, all your points in the reward scheme are lost. (12.7) So if you are going to opt-in make sure you transfer any points first!

After speaking with a CSR at Citibank yesterday, she told me that all cardholders would soon be receiving a mailout regarding the stoppage of points transfer to QFF after 31 March 2009.

Interestingly enough, she said that Citibank would be allowing transfer of points less than the current 10,000 point minimum to be transferred to QFF :D.

I currently have less than 5000 points, so it will work well for me!

Have received the citibank letter today. The bottom line: a transfer to a platinum card is required to earn QFF points in future. footnote 2 states that prior to 1/4/09 adhoc transfer of QFF points must be in blocks of 10000 points. I currently have the Gold VISA fee free for life. A call to Citibank resulted in an offer to upgrade to the platinum card, but the normal annual fee of $250 would apply; they were not able to offer me the fee free platinum card, at this time.

"Interestingly enough, she said that Citibank would be allowing transfer of points less than the current 10,000 point minimum to be transferred to QFF :D."

I contacted Citibank about the same issue (i have 7000 points) and was told sorry but unless you have 10,000 points you wont be able to transfer them to Qantas FF points.

The Citibank customer service person then suggested that I go and spend $3000 on something to get the additional 3000 points needed! What a cheek!

Try giving them a call back and aking about an upgrade to Plat, when they tell you the card will not be free ask if you can pay the difference between the Gold card and the Plat card
Gold is $119 per year
Plat is $250

So offer to pay $131 per year for the Plat card and see what they say to that.
Even paying $131 + $19 direct earn fee $151 for a Plat card with direct sweep and a high points cap is cheaper than other cards (Eg commenwealth plat card is $200 per year)

My understanding was that if you opt-in to the QFF direct scheme by 31 Mar, you can elect to have your outstanding reward points transferred. If you opt-in afterwards the points will expire.

That isnt mentioned in the T&C booklet they sent out however it would be nice if they did allow you to take all the citi points across automatically.

Section 12.7 in the new T&C's says reward points expire upon opting in to the Qantas Direct program. Some people have had a letter explaining this, and the T&C booklet referes to the post April T&C's. I guess the bit about electing to transfer pre Mar 31 is a transitional benefit designed to keep them out of trouble!

Just tried to transfer points across to QFF account & was told their would be a charge of 2000 points for the transfer,If I opt in to the qantas direct program I pay $19 & no 2000 point fine. So you are charged points if you want to transfer & pay bucks if you want to be in the program .

Maybe this charge is only if you transfer through the call centre, free if you do the transfer online?

Do the transfer online to avoid such charges.

Call City and have them register your QFF number - Once that is done correctly it can be done on-line for no charge.

Called the customer service centre this morning. Told that the minimun transfer is still 10,000 point to QFF. I only have 4K in my platinum (fee free for life upgraded from Gold card). Ask about whether they can waive the $19 annual fee for the new direct QFF transfer program if I am a CitiGold customer, but they reply 'NO'.
Any suggestion or any special number that I can call to reach the new QFF program hotline?

You may find that the "minimum transfer of 10,000 points" still applies until 31 March, UNLESS you pay the $19 fee and ask for the direct sweep - in which case you would be able to transfer your 4000 points. I also tried to have the $19 fee waived - as it seems to be quite ridiculous and petty - but to no avail, but was told that a supervisor would call me back on this. Still waiting!

Citibank have terrible cso's, most have no idea what they are talking about. I have been trying to tfr citi reward point to qff for more than 4 months online, i have over the min req but the system wont process them across. when i rang citibank they told me it would cost me 5000 pts for them to do it. in the end i didnt bother and tfr them over to DJ instead.

Are you a CitiGold customer? If you are, why are you calling the customer service centre?

I know for a fact that a friend/colleague has got it waived but it was done through his relationship manager and I feel a bit of a 'its who you know' deal as i haven't heard of any one else on the board yet who has got it waived...

can someone p-lease explain what is going on?

my other half has a CBA platnium with $200 annual fee, he hates it and wishes he could cancel it but the only thing is he wants the 1:1 ratio

I also called up citibank and got told lots of stuff that was really confusing, we also have the fee free for life platinum upgraded from the gold card.

however I got told of the $19 fee which is fine, however, I also got told 10,000 point minium, the letter also said that a $240 or so fee would apply to the platinum card!!

so can anyone confirm that once end of March arrives, will the annual fee be just $19, and will the ratio be 1:1, as if it is, we will simply cancel the CBA platinum card..... without having to poay $200 in fees!
