Citibank Qantas Rewards

Ooh, hold on. I think we're wanting to put in a step that doesn't exist. You earn EITHER Citi points or Q points, so there is no conversion of one to the other. :(

Internally it is done by accumulating points and then doing a monthly conversion and sweep across. I though I read somewhere that this initial point accumulation was going to be one point per dollar when enrolled in Qantas rewards.

My point accumulation is, and always has been at 2 points per $1 spent.

Has anyone else received the updated t&c's? Says dated 1 March 2012

there are not too many of us running on Select!
Thanks, cove. Maybe there aren't too many running on it because of the perceived value?
For example, just say I don't really use Priority Pass being in other lounges, live too far from the airport to get the limo transfer, receive excellent travel insurance through my company... I do want a $1:1QFF earn rate & unlimited points cap. But can't I get that much cheaper elsewhere? I'm interested to hear why you are running on Select given the $700. (Other Selectees please chime in too).

It is a business card.
i get 1.333 points per dollar to SQ kris domestically and 3.333 on international. I cut out the grossing up that Citi do and just gave you the net numbers that transfer.
SQ points are really great as you can see the whole world any day you choose.
If you can get past the application obstacle course and get it really going the other side perks will be of little interest.
On SQ points in Saver you can go SIN to EWR for 170 k points on the all business class A340-500 and that is a winner!

^Wow! That's a lot of J flying for the points. Thanks for your input.
Once signed up for QRewards, is it possible to transfer to Citi Rewards? Obviously i am in the wrong FF program (Yes, i am a little slow to have just noticed this!)...

The way I've read it is two CR points per dollar, not 2 QFF Points per dollar. QFF is a separate part of the Select program that requires an additional $49 annual fee and points are earned directly at 1:1.

Yes we have both Select cards for a total cost of $1,449 being $700 for Kris and $749 for QF.
The net transfer rates are 1.333 per dollar to Kris Flyer and 1.0 per dollar for QF but Citi record the points differently in your account by doubling the Kris earn and then giving you 10,000 points per 15,000 reward points you have in your account. You will learn your 15,000 times table.....if you have 190,000 reward points you can transfer 180,000 that becomes 120,000 points into Kris Flyer.
We each have a his and hers card for both accounts and we then worked on increasing the credit limits and the BPay daily transfer limits to make the thing work like a charm.
The journey may have pot holes so keep your sense of humour and be tenacious. A Visa card that earns Kris points on Select at this rate (if you have large business expenditure) is the winner for us.
i hope this is clear.

^Thanks for the explanation. I take it that they convert from CR points only in blocks of 15000? That does seem a little coughbersome but righty-o. Doing a Paris trip in September that always does some damage, so the o/s earn rate on KF points sounds mighty tempting.
Now I just need to find out if I can change out of the QR scheme & back to CR at any time or just on the anniversary. I wanted the 50k of Q points as it's all I need to book my J fares to BKK..

Yes blocks of 15,000 turn back into 10,000 real Kris points. The 3.333 points (net)per dollar on international is pretty exciting as the net result for Kris Flyer points earn.

I'm not fully uptodate with the Citi rewards. I've got CitiBusiness Gold since Jan and I presumed my points will transfer to my QF account. The points are accumulating however so am I free to transfer to either of QF or say SQ? Any other program apart from these two? The earn rate is 1.25:$1.

Unless CitiBusiness is different from the other Citi cards (and I doubt it) you can't transfer CR points to QR points. You can, however, transfer them to other programs such as SQ. If you want QR points you have to use up all your current points or you will lose them. Existing points don't get transferred over. Then you need to opt in to the QR program at a cost of $49 p.a. Under this election, all points become QR points which are automatically transferred to your QFF account at the end of each month.

Happy to report that the Select card rocked up yesterday & I was pretty impressed. Not exactly Centurion presentation but still a lot nicer than the usual card stuck to a sheet of A4 paper! I called & opted in to the QR program so I get the 50k points into QFF. Interestingly, they warned me not to spend yet as it takes 3-5 days for the Qantas election to go through. Then I have to pray that the bonus points exercise goes through smoothly at the end of the month. That would be a pretty speedy result, given that I only applied for the card on March 7. I can hardly wait in the anticipation of the J Classic Award seats I've been eyeing off. :D

CitiBusiness certainly is different which is why it is touted on AFF as being quite a good alternative to other cards should you be after QFF points...

greenfrog, does that mean it does allow transfer of points from one rewards scheme to the another?

For this card only, Citi allows you to collect points in your rewards account and then choose where you want to transfer them with one of the options being Qantas...

I understand it is 1 CR point to 1 QF point, however they need to be manually moved over (like with the other airline rewards, however different to most other Qantas cards that are direct sweep) and can only be moved in blocks of 10000 points.

There are a few threads on here regarding CitiBusiness if you're after other people's thoughts - I haven't had the card long enough to comment on all the ins and outs from a personal perspective.

Hi there, this is Citibank Australia,

We’ve seen this thread and would like to offer some clarification. To confirm, you can transfer your rewards points to Qantas Frequent Flyer points with the CitiBusiness Card. The earn rate is 1.25 points for every $1 spent. You can redeem your points for Qantas 1 Rewards Point = 1 QFF point (min redemption of 10,000 points). You simply need to contact Citibank Australia on 13 24 84 when you want to transfer your points to Qantas.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Citibank Australia
