A disappointing cutback from previous years with the lower points per dollar and the upper limit of $2,000. Yes I'll participate but not as much as I wanted to.

Part of the 'simpler and fairer' changes I guess. QF have halved the earn, so I will most likely halve my spend on the gift vouchers from last year. Will mainly buy them to help avoid the CC surcharge.

Not a big deal in any case as I booked a fair few flights on the recent VA offer which was equivalent to a 10pts/$ spend bonus on domestic flights...

$2,000 is the maximum value you can purchase as a voucher in any case.

Re: 10 pts / $ for Qantas Vouchers - Back for Xmas 2014

I just got an offer - 5 points/$ spent on vouchers. Did anyone get a better offer?

Re: 10 pts / $ for Qantas Vouchers - Back for Xmas 2014

I got the 5pts per $ offer as well. Better than nothing I suppose

Re: 10 pts / $ for Qantas Vouchers - Back for Xmas 2014

Yeah its official. 5 points per $. Might combine nicely with the triple points offer too.

Re: 10 pts / $ for Qantas Vouchers - Back for Xmas 2014

Looks like it is across the board offering - but only half as good as last years offer.
I will probably still shell out a couple of thousand but more so to save on credit card fees than for the reduced number of points.

Better than nothing - and of most value re the credit card fee. Slightly OT, but given the multi-city engine is so woeful and it's easier to book individual sectors, being able to waive the fee is handy.

I assume $2000 is the max value of one voucher - but multiple can be purchased? And I also assume purchasing of vouchers counts towards your bonus credit card spend on QF (I have an Earth Black cc which earns an extra QF FF point when purchasing a QF flight)?

Got the email as well.

Just checking, you still earn Qantas points for flying when booking with a gift certificate correct? Did this last year and got a $2,000 card, on a CC that gave you double points so got 24k points off 2k spend.

You can purchase more than one voucher. I have purchased three vouchers of various denominations last year and the bonus points were awarded for each voucher purchase.

Voucher purchase counts as a spend on QF so you should get the credit card bonus points as well.

Yes and yes.

I'm a bit more reluctant to purchase vouchers this year... I've been taking advantage of the Aquire Deals pricing, which, even after paying a credit card fee, are priced lower than retail fares. I know that I can call up and have a gift voucher redeemed as an Aquire deal fare, but I don't want to have to go through the hassle of calling up, hoping that the agent knows how to get the Aquire deal, and then possibly have to beg for agent fees to be waived etc.

Considering the earn rate has been halved, I may only buy a very limited amount this year, compared to previous years.

Haven't ever bought one of these before and I find the "passenger" thing confusing.

If I want to use the voucher for a flight for +1 & myself, do I have to have both of our names on the voucher?

Of course I could make separate bookings with two separate vouchers, but then will have different PNRs and may not sit together.

If I put both names on the voucher and only one wants to fly, can I still use the voucher? I presume not.

Also, what is the normal validity period?

Thanks in advance.

Buy a voucher for 2 pax, you can put any names on it when buying it. When you actually make the booking you can change the names. The important thing is to buy the voucher for the number of people who will be travelling (as this can't be changed).

Officially not, certainly not online, it may be possible over the phone depending on how helpful they are feeling.

Also, what is the normal validity period?

Voucher is valid for 12 months, the booking made using the voucher can be up to 12 months away.
