Why not? It took well over 10 years before I flew in a B777, A330 and A340. And I think it was only this year that I flew in a B717, B757, A320, A310 and A300 for the first time.

It will be interesting to see how long it will be before I get to travel in an A380 and I think I will give the B787 a good few years after the first flight before trying it out.

It generally takes me a long time before I step on a particular model for the first time. However, this is more due to opportunity that trying to avoid new planes.

The 787 probably won't be deployed on a route I fly on for some time, and the A380, well if I get a flight on it, great. But I am not going to particulalry avoid them.

I think we have got past the times of the comet's and there ilk.

Then you might as well keep flying with AA in the LOTFAP. they have lots of very well tried and tested MD80s and 757s in their fleet

While I would not be volunteering to get on board their first plane, I would not write the Chinese off too soon. I recall seeing one of the earliest Honda cars imported into Australia in the early 1970's and having a laugh about its comparitive lack of sophistication and style compared with other cars of the day. How things have changed.

There was a time when we scoffed at the quality of Japanese goods.

No thanks. I will continue to fly with Qantas for as long as possible.

I will avoid any US carriers unless specifically doing a status run and I will definitely avoid Chinese carriers and Chinese designed aircraft.

What has changed with Hondas?

Personally I would be keen to be on board the first flight of any aircraft.

Would you be so keen to be on the last flight of an aircraft? (especially an unplanned last flight  ).

Unlikely to see them auctioned on Ebay...

..but I'd be willing to bet that there would be a few bids. No shortage of idiots.
