China Southern Delays/Cancellations

A333 B-6087 on CZ3073 from SZX down to MEL should arrive on Sunday 14 January 2018 at about 0755 hours, 35 minutes tardy.

Monday 15 January 2018 has CZ3071 (1910 hours Sunday 14 SZX - SYD that took off at 1950 with A333 B-6500) likely to arrive at 0815, 45 minutes tardy, having had a brief hold to the west of Pokolbin.

A380 B-6140 on CZ325, the 2100 hours CAN - SYD that took off on Monday 15 January at 2249, about 85 minutes late should arrive on Tuesday 16 at approximately 1041 hours, 76 late.

UPDATE: On the return, CZ326, the 1125 hours, took off from SYD at 1246 so arrival is suggested as 1821 hours, 46 minutes behind time. The arrival deficit of 76 minutes is too great to totally claw back even though a little time was saved in the turnaround.

CZ343 on Easter Monday 3 April 2018, operated by A333 B-5928 should arrive in MEL 69 minutes late at 2139 hours. It is the 0900 hours from CAN that did not take off until 1047 hours.

CZ326, the Tuesday 10 April 2018 scheduled 1005 hours SYD -CAN that took off at a delayed 1128 hours with A333 B-5939 should arrive at about 1838 in the early evening, local time, 33 minutes behind the timetable.

Saturday 14 April 2018 saw CZ3073, the 1905 hours early evening start to the SZX - MEL fairly reintroduced flight (A333 B-6098) not taking off until 0038 hours on Sunday 15. Arrival looks to be 1138 hours, 318 minutes tardy.

The scheduled return flight, CZ3074 was due out at 0800 so a realistic amended departure may be 1300 hours.

Once again, while not always feasible (lack of slots is one reason, or minimising costs another), this shows the value of international airlines having greater than minimum turnaround times built in to schedules.

Monday 16 April 2018 sees CZ321, the redeye from CAN down to MEL that took off at 2320 on Sunday night despite a timetabled pushback of 2100, likely to arrive at around 1025 hours, 105 minutes past the schedule. A333 B-5922 is the aircraft.

On Sunday 22 April 2018 due to fog in MEL, CZ3073, the Saturday nightredeye from SZX to MEL diverted to SYD. A333 B-6087 subsequently was airborne from SYD at 0844, arriving MEL at 1009, 229 minutes late.

CZ3074, the 0800 MEL - SZX then took off at 1204 so arroval should be at around 1922, 142 minutes late.

CX135, PR209 and GA716 were among other flights coming in at around 06330 hours to MEL that had to divert to SYD.

CZ3073, the 1905 hours ex SZX on Monday 23 April took off at 2001. A333 B-6086 should arrive at 0650 on Tuesday 24, half an hour late.

Anzac Day 2018 (Wednesday 25 April) sees CZ325 (A333 B-5922, the overnight CAN - SYD) arriving at 0916 hours, 51 minutes late. CZ326, the scheduled 1005 hours back to mainland China may be able to depart half an hour late at 1035, again showing the value to international airlines of having greater than minimum turnarounds if practical.

Saturday 28 April 2018 has CZ325, the redeye down from CAN to SYD (A333 B-5940) arriving at 0909, 44 minutes late. CZ326, the 1005 hours back to CAN should be able to depart at about 1030.

The Monday 7 May 2018 CZ321 (scheduled 2100 hours from CAN to MEL) did not become airborne until 0003 on Tuesday 8 May. A333 B-5940 should arrive at roughly 1105, 145 minutes tardy. CZ344, the 1030 hours return should be able to commence pushing back at around the 1225 mark if all goes well.

Up north, it's a similar situation with CZ381, the overnight CAN down to BNE (B-1063) that is arriving at an estimated 0959 hours, 94 minutes late.

Making a threesome, CZ325 from CAN to SYD (A333 B-5922) is likely to arrive at 1157, 212 minutes late, so the worst of the lot. CZ326, the scheduled 1005 hours return will be unable to depart until at least 1320, so even if it picks up a little time it will still be badly late into southern mainland China.
