China Airlines Delays/Cancellations

CI, a Taiwanese airlines not from mainland China, is usually punctual into and out of Oz but the Sunday 4 August 2019 CI57 from TPE down to MEL (the 2325 hours) was not in the sky until 0718 this morning. Arrival should be at 1803, 423 minutes late.

As CI58 returning overnight to TPE is not scheduled to depart MEL until 2210 tonight, it should be OK timewise.

Friday 9th of August sees CI51 TPE-SYD (A539 B-18902) arriving at 11 05, 90 min tardy. The aircraft was circling around NSW for quite a while due to SYD weather.

The 2330 hours Friday 9 August TPE - SYD (CI51, A359 B-18917) was airborne at 0029, about 35 late, on Saturday 10. As at 1030 hours, the aircraft was holding near Goulburn so may be a little later at gate than the 45 minutes tardy, 1130 computer prediction.

CI53 from TPE to BNE is arriving on Sunday 11 August 2019 at 1134, 49 late with A359 B-18908. The 1255 hours 'tag' flight across to AKL should not be delayed.

The TPE - SYD CI51 is coming in to its gate at 1120, 35 late with B-18909, also an A359.

Saturday 7 September 2019 has CI51 (A359 B-18908) arriving (ex TPE) into SYD at 1125, 40 minutes late.

With adverse SYD weather, CI51, the Thursday 23 January very late night scheduled TPE down to SYD that took off at 0042 on Friday 24 (A359 B-18908) is arriving at about 1249 hours, 34 late after having to hold in the Pokolbin area.

Taiwan's CI continues to be very reliable to/from Australia but on Wednesday 4 May 2022, the mid evening CI52 (2135 hours SYD overnight to TPE) is delayed for 24 hours.

China Airlines of Taiwan has an excellent punctuality record but on Wednesday 4 January 2023, A359 B18901 on CI57 from TOE down to MEL is likely to arrive at about 1247 hours, 32 minutes behind the timetable.

CI51 from TPE to SYD is also delayed, arriving at 1301 hours, 46 minutes tardy with B18912.

The Saturday night 18 February 2023 CI57 2355 hours TPE-MEL (A359 B18908) took off (on Sunday 19) at 0045 so anticipated gate arrival is 1247 hours, 32 minutes late.

So typical of the efficient Taiwanese, China Airlines of Taiwan has a great punctuality and reliability record, way ahead of Qantas'.

However on Friday 21 July 2023 with SYD again down to using only the east-west runway, CA51 from TPE down to SYD (A359 B-18915) is arriving at 1116 hours, 31 late. The staff must have a 10 hour layover as tonight's return doesn't depart until a scheduled 2210 hours tonight.
