Charges for award booking ??

Hi,

I've just made an award booking for hubby(platinum ) and myself for jan 2016

I paid with points for flight, Melb - LAX, and paid taxes by cc, but was also charged $60 booking fee x 2 for the two tickets.

I thought that if it was a booking that you couldn't do online ( as they sent off a request for the second seat) that you didn't have to pay the booking fee?

Can someone who has booked this before please enlighten me?

I don't know about the 'second seat' issue in terms of charging, but in general, the fact that you can't complete a booking on line is not a Qantas criterion for waiving booking fees. Unfortunately Qantas is one of the few airlines that will charge in this way.

There are many examples (mostly partner awards, but also when QF couldn't process foreign bookings) where you can't book on line, and QF doesn't waive the fees.

If there is a QF website error they are often willing to waive fees.

This case is slightly different however, with revenue management getting involved to help you out.
