Change to SQ Earn Rates

Err. what?! I really hope the other poster wasn't referring to Ausbt!!! Good lord, Ausbt is as good a source as wikipedia, ACA, coughtube, and KKs blog. At least one of these would have more clout than AB.

Considering how others in this thread is what enlightened me to the article, can you please care to explain why your thoughts on AusBT are unreliable?

I’m not sure how you can hold an article written by a 3rd party against Velocity. Velocity has no control of what other media outlets choose to write.

Maybe you should be asking Chris from AusBT to either put you in contact with his source (if there even is one) or send you the points himself as he is the one sugggesting you can get a retro claim done, not VA. I doubt ACA would entertain you if your only reference is his article.

Not holding it against VA, if it is rejected then I'll move on. I'm simply after a response. I've tried twice with VA and now I'm trying with ACA. Its NOT a case of this article says X therefore you MUST give me Y. I'll leave ACA to deal with VA and produce an outcome, whether that be positive or negative.

Ok, received a reply moments ago saying after March 1 points new earning rates will be applied and I was credited correctly.
I'll about to reply to them and say it is being taken further.

I genuinely hope Velocity somehow get smacked with a huge fine over this cough. I'm really sick of the rubbish they continue to pedal out to customers, beginning to think only a broom through the organisation could make a difference.

Why should they get a fine?

As stated on numerous occasions, Clause 3.2 of the T&C states that VFF can make any changes at any time with no notice.

The only ones with any sort of a claim are those who travelled on SQ between 01 March 2018 and 13 March 2018.

Those of us who purchased fare classes listed as full economy in January, to get higher SCs, only to find several weeks later that VFF/SQ had retrospectively downgraded those classes and their SC/points earn rates, certainly have a legitimate grievance. You think I'd have paid $500+ extra for tickets in W just to find a few weeks later it was suddenly changed to be the same as a much cheaper class? Come on.

I am also one of those people. I have a couple of W class flights coming up (booked before even the SQ announcement) and will now book in the lowest fare class moving forward...

There does not appear to be anything in the T&C (that we have all read and fully agreed to) that VFF have violated which could cause them to be fined.

People can be unhappy, but that unhappiness really needs to be directed at SQ and not VFF (with the exception of those who travelled between 01 March 2018 and 13 March 2018).

Once SQ made their KF announcement it was only going to be a matter of time before the same changes where made to SQ earn on VFF. So if you booked this year, there was always a big risk and that is why I held off making any further W class bookings until the dust had settled.

I booked W on 16 Jan with SQ.
SQ announced fare class changes on 20 Jan.
VFF announced class/earn rate changes in March.

Yes, technically the Ts&Cs allow them to screw us on this, but just because they can doesn't mean that they should. I believe I should be earning SCs at the old rate for W at the date on which I was ticketed; retrospective changes involving penalties are ridiculous and generally not accepted as fair practice.

SQ themselves say: Tickets issued before 20 January 2018 will be subject to the old fare conditions, while tickets issued on or after 20 January 2018 will be based on the new fare conditions.
Introducing revised fare types

SQ announced the changes before 20 Jan (at least a month before I think)...they were implemented from 20 Jan. I booked in Oct 17, but if booking in Jan 18 would have certainly had concerns.

Their grandfathering of existing bookings seemingly applies only to Krisflyer.

You are free to believe what you like but as it was SQ who made the change, as a partner, VFF hands are tied if SQ will not pay VFF.

The actual fare terms and conditions are the same and have not changed. It is the points and SC earn which has changed and if crediting to VFF do not form part of the SQ fare terms and conditions. You could possibly argue this if crediting to KF.

Just providing an update, my SCs and Points came through today. Not sure if that's a result of ACA as I have not heard anything from them.

Good news! Interested to know if the activity date reflected the flight dates correctly?

I'm in the same boat. Bought W fares for the sole purpose of higher SCs and points. I'm due to travel at the end of this month but I bought my tickets in September, which pre-dates their announcement of the changes.

Well, this is quite a surprising turn of events!

I still have not received the status credit adjustment from SQ. However, 2 days after sending the email saying I would raise my case with ACA instead (which I haven't actually done yet) I received a call from a supervisor. I missed the original call but she has just called back. They have today upgraded my account to Gold on the basis that I would've had 500SC+ had the status credits posted at the original earn rate! As this was the whole reason I booked the SQ fare class I'm ecstatic with this outcome! Will just wait and see if SQ if ever come to the party, if they do the additional points will just be the icing on the cake.

I can't say for sure that mentioning the ACA has influenced this outcome, I was certainly getting nowhere until then!

I sent off an email and got a reply 2 1/2 days later saying basically too bad flights were after 1 March so I sent a reply stating I was contacting the ACA.
2 1/2 days after my 2nd email (had not contacted ACA yet) I got another reply this time saying they could see flights were booked prior to March 1 (before January 20 actually) and that the last email was not totally correct and the person had managed to escalate it to a supervisor who was contacting SQ to see what could be done as the Velocity system can not recognise the booking date and changes made on 1 March to correctly apply points etc.

Only been 2 days since that email so will be interesting what happens and how long it takes to happen.
