Chance of upgrade 3 Pax

Thanks Ansett. Once I have her details I’ll be able to see that info. What I have not heard of before is that a booking as @Pushka referred to may be, “locked down”. My daughter is a bronze so I’m hoping I can do it for her as a silver.
It just means that sometimes you can’t make any changes to the booking if you haven’t booked it yourself. Or herself. Then for instance, the Change or Cancel button isn’t operable and you have to call up to make changes.

Ah yes of course makes sense from those actually paying for the flight.

Hi Pushka

But would that lock out the Upgrade option?

Is there seriously a difference in upgrades during festive/holiday seasons? Shows how new at this I am.

Well there are no upgrades if it's a sell out, so peak periods are the most difficult for any upgrade and P1's get an upgrade every 10th flight. Just need to hope for top end to have apsaras and overbooking down the back.

EMirates is best for upgrades as they use the booking system the most inefficiently. One flight out of Sydney was overbooked 50 people so plenty got an upgrade on that flight.

Awesome amaroo. So it does happen. I honestly thought is was impossible.

I’m not too concerned if they upgraded us at the gate, since we can still enjoy FLounge in Sydney. We have a 5 hour transit in SYD, so could think of worse places to be.

Upgrading at the gate wouldn't normally happen on a bid upgrade, that's usually only when operations dictate. When you hear them calling names at the gate that's often staff travel or overbooking upgrades.

I dont know, I only know that a TA we used blocked us from doing anything with the booking, even being able to select seats. They wanted control. We dont use them anymore.

I can understand why.

Making changes or cancelling I agree with when it comes to company paid travel, but dont understand seat or upgrade.

I one worked for a US company that banned employees from using points to upgrade company paid flights. Crazy I know

Maybe if another person was spotted in J and that spotter had been booked in Y it might cause companies kerfuffle and accusations of some kind of discrimination/preferential treatment?

This has turned out to be the case. She is with colleagues all in J and so doesn’t feel an upgrade to be appropriate.

For peoples interest.... We have just been upgraded again 3 pax J -> F at T-60hrs :):):) Syd-Sin QF1 for travel tomorrow.

How stoked are we considering we had a J saver fare and J and F were nearly full (as of this week). So now have been moved from row 12 to row 5. Wife and son will be even happier now (all that matters really). Considering we are heading on to Tokyo and the little man (4yo) wanted to travel on the A380 instead of the 747 hence the indirect route through SIN, its a very nice little bonus.

Just sharing the happy positive vibes at the moment :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Thanks serfty. Very chuffed at the moment. Particularly since requesting upgrades for 3 pax.

You gotta be in the lottery to win it. Only burning points I guess.
