b)make them get a fully flexible Y ticket and check-in 3 hours early and request the front row (more legroom, feels more private) So you have optimal chance of free upgrade coz of early checkin and Full priced ticket

Get back to me!

Poor advice, AcrossTheDitch.

Op-upgrades are dished out on STATUS, and no other criteria.

A Platinum FF on the cheapest ticket in the back row will be upgraded long before a Bronze, Silver or Gold FF on a full economy ticket in the front row.

The truth is harsh, but this be the truth.

As a bronze FF you have NO chance of an op-upgrade on a busy route like SYD-LAX, particularly since a paid J seat can be hard to get.

The Chairman's Lounges are more like the Brisbane Club (or any other similar crusty gentleman's club). They are much smaller than QC, albeit much quieter. Yes the benefits of Chairmans Lounge are as AcrossTheDitch pointed out, better again that us mere mortal Plats get.

Having said that, I'm quite happy with being Plat...

WP, wash your mouth out!

There's nothing "crusty" about the Queensland Club, nor any of its affilitates. I'll wager the standards are a bit above and beyond that of the CL!

I am going to have to be happy with Platinum as I have a snowballs chance of ever getting a CL membership

AcrossTheDitch, so you mean that you can get a degree as well as flying in the comfort of business or first class? Fantastic!

*Heaps of free upgrades

What's your opinion of Qantas' Chairmans Lounge, would love to know.

  If this is what you consider the perks of QF CL, you can keep it!! I hope you felt great!!

Hate to be a party poop here, however I believe this discussion is doing nothing but creating anamosity.

I agree with kpc and I believe that this is not the type of forum we need on AFF. Lets move on to a more useful topic :!:

:D :D

Agreed, whilst it may be nice to know what the CL level have by way of benefits from QF, there is so little ability for any of us to achieve this level - it is a benefit you are invited to join. I have 3 clients who are CL, but they rarely advrtise the fact (they are the CEO, COO and EMD of an MNC).

AcrossTheDitch is exceedingly lucky that he qualifies through a family CL, but he may unwittingly ostracise other members here on the forum by indicating as he did, about a particular "benefit" that may not be palatable to others.

Lindsay (and everyone else).... Thanks ! :D

I was wanting to say the SAME THING, but I didn't start it off because I didn't want to cause any flak here. As soon as I read this post, I was pretty p***ed off because it was a slap in the face that screamed 'ner ner ner ner ner'.

I am VERY glad that you guys jumped in and said what I wanted to say, because yes - even Plats / Gold have little chance of getting it.

For those not in the know, it's by invitation only by Qantas. So, unless you're a CEO or CFO etc., you don't get asked. Simple.

I could not help but feel that the behaviour of AcrossTheDitch was somewhat un-Australian - 'one-upmanship'. It was done in the same kind of voice as the businessman off the Vegemite advert (in the QC - extra points to anyone who can tell me which one :D )

Sorry Lindsay. I've been ostracised already by him. If his goal was to tick me off, he's done it.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Have a nice day, AcrossTheDitch. It's good to see you're going to be a valuable member of AFF with positive sentiments like this.

I'll keep my opinion of you to myself, otherwise Clifford will have to amend this post.

Troll :)

Sorry, we are all a bit too PC here. AcrossTheDitch, act like a spoilt prat and you will be treated like one.

Perhaps your college in Business Class can teach you some humility.

Bump me from J-class in the smart***e manner you described and you might just get one back.

Do mumsy and daddy stilll give you lunch money?

1. *Always placed in front row, aisle
(always available, even on those packed night SYD-PER flights booked 1 day before

2. *Calls answered in 5 seconds
(mostly automatically and you talk to the Qantas Premium team)

Aside from the obvious remarks all the regulars will anticipate from me (so I need not detail them), a few on the points above.

1. Rubbish. This would only apply if the CL member had "aisle forward" nominated as their preference, and then only if there were enough "front row, aisle" seats to accomodate all CL members on the flight.

I've often wound up next to a CL on QF1648 (local Senator), who gets the window seat 1A whilst I wind up in 1B next to him - I have the aisle.

2. Big deal. This is no different to my experience as a WP - a five second delay would be most unusual!

After reading this all I can say is that if AcrossTheDitch is indicative of the CL attitude, I'm glad I'm a Pleb Silver slumming it in the QP with other unworthies like the entire Wallabies team and management.

I am sorry to have offended anybody from my original post. I had noticed that in the general posting section, last year there were a few enquiries about Chairman's Lounge and there was minimal information regarding it. Get over it!

AcrossTheDitch, you have a lot of growing up to do. I think most people on the forum don't have a problem with what you said but how you said it. Your original post reeked of arrogance and rubbing people's noses in it - basically giving the boasting attitude of "my Daddy and Mummy are so important that I get benefits you hoi polloi don't, we can even bump people out of their seats because Qantas wants to suck up to us."

Then when forum members expressed their displeasure at your attitude (myself included), you get all defensive and tell us to "get over it!" You need to get out into the real world and walk a mile in other people's shoes. Maybe then you'll think twice about boasting about personal benefits you receive that come at the direct expense of other people. :x

AcrossTheDitch, I had such high hopes when you started out so positively in your reply...

but you ended it so poorly by stooping back down:

Get over it!

What we all learn in life is that nobody likes a show off or a smartarSe. Don't wear your CL like a badge of honour, instead use the information you have gathered from travelling and share it with the members of this forum. Then you'll earn the respect that you deserve. That is what I hope to do - share knowledge and have some fun along the way.

I always give people a second chance, because sometimes you don't get a second chance to make a good first impression. Think about what you are writing and how others will react. By thinking of others first, in turn you will learn about yourself...

:D :) 😉

AcrossTheDitch,

Best wishes.

I wasn’t going to post on this forum again; however, the positive note from Lindsay (with which I must concur) has prompted me to do so.

We would all welcome you back with some constructive input, however I truly believe that if you continue with the line of arrogance and one-upmanship that you will quickly find that you are a voice in the wilderness and that people will simply ignore your posts.

I am sure you have a lot of positive that you are able to input to the forums and I’m sure we all look forward to hearing some of it.
