Cathay touts HKG 'Lounge Hopping'

In my opinion the Wing and Pier business lounges are not that great. Possibly because they are connected to the First lounges.

The Cabin and the Bridge though are OK. I love to sit at the bar in each of these 2 lounges and have a vodka and orange looking at the views of Hong Kong from the Cabin and the gates/taxiway from the Bridge. Very relaxing. Also they are located between the Wing and the Pier and good to break up the walk.

Have you been to the new Pier J? Still don't like it?

Just confirms how pax needs/wants can vary so greatly. When I first looked at this thread my immediate thought was don't go to the Pier first, because it is all downhill from there! Some parts of the Wing are shabby and it gets very busy. The Cabin is ok, but a bit pokey and hit and miss on food. The Bridge is ok, but I would still walk past it to go to the Pier. As I said, we are all different.

The future Mrs Batesy and I are off to DUS via HKG at the end of May. 3 nights in Hong Kong then off to Europe for a month. Most flights in J due to a 280K QF Oneworld award.

Our CX J class flight to DUS leaves at 1am from HKG. Looks like the QF lounge closes at 23:30pm. Its a long time since I was in HKG so any suggestions on lounges at that time of night most welcome.

Cheers

I have used The Wing and Bridge when I have had early morning flights - the last time being in April when I was on a 12:30am flight. What I do is check the HKIA site over a week or two to see where the flight usually departs from. I found the 12:30 flight usually goes from gates 24 to 30, so went to the Bridge.

I have visited the Pier Business lounge. It is OK but in my mind not that special that I would visit that lounge over the other Business lounges.

If I only had business lounge access then I would visit the lounge closest to my gate unless I want to do a lounge crawl.

I thought that too then I found the resting area - and took my tea and dessert(s) there :)

I'm flying in to HKG on QF..out on BA in J... is the QF lounge even worth a look? (Been to the Wing before so would like to try the Bridge...but always interested in folks suggestions)

How much time do you have? If the BA flight is from a high numbered gate, the Pier may be closest

I personally would prefer any of the CX lounges over what Qantas offer.

QF is worth checking out for its beers on tap (esp Pure Blonde)... well i guess you get that in Australia everywhere... And the plate of roasted pork rice from the bar. Meat looks sad, but doesn't taste too bad actually!

Personally, I would go straight to Pier J though - it beats all the other J lounges at HKG hands down IMO.

The Qantas lounge is well worth a look if you've never visited. Not far from there to the Bridge either walking or get the train.

Well...im in on QF127 and out on BA28....so Ive got time to visit a couple!

Qantas lounge generally has much better wine than any of the Cathay lounges, even the F ones (not including champagne) if that's important to you

I was impressed with the wine options in the QF lounge, some decent options (and much better than those found in the SIN lounge).

I have a 14hr layover next May. In J on different bookings. Can we visit one of the J lounges for breakfast & shower prior to leaving the airport for the day?

Must admit Mrs Lime is a professional lounge crawler, we've been through HKG airport more times than I can remember, when i was a QF plat. even more so.

If you are arriving in J on CX, then you can visit The Arrival - which is landside. If you are not on CX, then you may be out of luck unless you are WP or MarcoPolo Gold as that is the only access allowed. All the other lounges which would allow OW COS and SG access are Airside, and you have to transit security to get to them. Getting released back to landside may or may not be simple.

If you are arriving on CX in J, then you can use the CX arrivals lounge (through immigration and under the Airport Express station). If you are not arriving on CX then there is a Plaza Premium arrivals lounge you can pay to use (it's near the CX arrivals lounge)

I suppose you could instead go through transit security with your onward boarding pass and use the lounge of your onward flight carrier. Your problem then would be getting back out through HK immigration and back into town. Can be done I believe but you would need to be escorted
