As per the thread subject, if I cancel an award online, how long will it take for points to come back in my account so I can book another one?

As mentioned upthread is a common issue with QFF that cancelling online a two PAX award booking will generally result in only the points less fee and $$$ for one PAX being refunded. Further intervention is needed.
Had to ring three times and no penalty because of the customer service rep who actually rebooked the ticket as he said it was the only way to get the money back then promptly left the building. All refunds and points were finally processed after the third intervention who had no idea what the original person was thinking.

I had two recent experinces.
I cancelled a QF95 in U a little over a week ago. (I called as the cancel button on MYB was disabled.) No refund as yet. (~$500 & 90k).
I waited more than days and still nothing, so on Thursday called. The agent was sympathetic an immediately began the process , stating the points would be back immediately, but the refund to CC would take a couple of days.

This morning there was still no refund and I resolved to call again on Tuesday, but lo and behold, a refund confirmation email arrived this afternoon. Indeed, on checking the 90K points are back. No just need to await the $$$ refund.

The other experience occured in the mean time with an auto cancel of an Ex USA booking on a Friday with points/$$$ arriving the very next Monday.

I received an email this last event but only for the two cancellations (one from original booking and the other one that was weirdly created by CS) but didn’t receive an email for the cancellation that proceeded immediately on cancellation.

Does anyone have any experience of cancelling Classic Rewards (for 2021) in the current circumstances? I have a booking that I want to change completely (I've booked flights to Europe, but now want to use QFF points to book flights from Europe back to OZ instead).*

There is a recorded message when you call QFF saying their FF team are unable to assist with making, changing or cancelling bookings right now, so I haven't waited on hold to put that to the test. The easiest thing would be to cancel the existing booking online, and rebook online (the flights I want are available), but the problem is if my points go into limbo - I don't have quite enough remaining to book the new flights without getting at least some points from the original booking refunded.

* I know it remains to be seen whether we'll be able to travel anywhere by then, but I'm going to make plans anyway!

QF seems to have changed the message and I think the above is for QFF general enquiries, press option 1 for reservations and you should get through and ask. I have found the wait time is not to long however if I do get sick of waiting call SST and they get to to the correct team reasonably quickly.
