Cafe breakfast is gone

It's not a full room service breakfast. It is still served exactly the same way as before, there is just now a hot egg dish as well.

Maybe I was thinking if my QF2 where we had to fill in a form. I am not the most coherent on those flights.

There is still no hot option for brekkie in F on the soon to be extinct F service on QF128.

I can't remember if there ever was one? We get an 'enhanced' continental. After a long dinner and only about 5 hours worth of sleeping time, the continental has always been enough.

While it's no longer called Cafe Breakfast it's still the same cough! The "egg" dish I had on the Singapore-Melbourne is a joke. Why do they bother? Qf wants to pretend it's actually serving something but it's obvious it's a half baked attempt.

And on the Australia to Asia flights the "prior to arrival" service is so embarrassing. Noodle Boxes/Chinese Takeaway? Seriously, a business class service serving food in paper boxes. Just a joke. Once again it would look better just to do a tea/coffee service before arrival as it's obvious the cost cutting is now insane.

I think there needs to be some trade-off somewhere.

Cabin crew are already being asked to work harder than ever... the new business class meal presentation without a tray adds all sorts of fiddly bits to the service. Those take time. Then there is the bed making.

The trade off is the staff get an easier meal service second time around.

I think passengers need to decide if they want a nice quick meal presentation (all on one tray) for both meals, or if they want an extended 'first class' meal first up.

If I was crew I wouldn't want all this extra fiddly rubbish added to my job description. (and for what benefit to the passenger?)

I loved Air china last month... single meal tray, and multiple dishes/courses brought out quickly and piled on our trays. Meal service done and dusted within 45 minute. Bliss.

So what, if the crew don't like the job then quit

This issue is nothing to do with crew, but still cost cutting by QF

Well the noodle service into HKG isn't cost cutting as it's actually a new service all together since there wasn't one in the past.

As others have stated little has changed - SIN-SYD last week in J, was offered the choice of either cereal, croissant, fruit or a revolting baked egg dish. None of which was in an adequately sized portion (4 slivers of fruit etc).

Basically still offering you 1 'dish' compared to CX to OZ who would give you the choice to have all of them served at once on a single tray which you could enjoy any time prior to descent, ie wake up 1 hour from landing and be served a full brekky.

Just not good enough.

That REALLY surprises me considering we were offered the choice of a hot OR continental breakfast in Y+ on QF128 last week :S

... and the fact that J service between HBA and MEL offers two hot choices for mid morning snack!

Agreed, I flew SIN-SYD recently in PE and the breakfast option was a cinnamon scroll and not much else, not even a yogurt!
When I asked for a yogurt instead the FA said she was very disappointed with QF and their dwindling breakfast options that she can't even offer passengers a $1.50-2 tub of yogurt for breakfast.

Luckily I filled up big at the SIN EK lounge before the flight!

Flew back on QF36 Sunday SIN-MEL in Y and the café style breakfast as they called it was absolute cough and not many took it up. Thought Café Style had gone or have they just moved it to Y where the Hot Breakfast option seems to have died? :)

Very sad to see this thread coming back to life again. QF what are you doing to us?

Yesterday morning QF6 was cinnamon scroll and yoghurt in Y. Wasn't much but it was only about 4.5 hours after finishing dinner.

Would this be the same CX that turns on the lights in all cabins at around 2.5hrs prior to descent to perform the meal service?

Yeah...no thanks. Give me 1.5 hrs extra sleep and a cinnamon danish over that alternative any day of the week.

Caramelised onion jam for breakfast ? WTF ? May be I am just getting old.
What ever happened to just scrambled eggs, toast, bacon, tomato or mushroom and toast or hash-brown. And no fancy chief needed i.e cuts the costs. Heck even McD's could be contracted ... now there is a thought ... what about McD's muffins (sausgae & egg, bacon & egg) for breakfast + hash-brown on short hop flights. Tell me you don't want one now
Boring I know, but a simple breakfast for the masses that always seems to be a hit.

I remember on domestic SYD > MEL breakfast flights (around 2004 - 06 ?) in whY there were hot english bacon & egg muffins served wrapped in foil. I used to take the breakfast flight and bring a little single serve tomato sauce to squeeze on the muffin. Mmmm was so nice in winter.
