I don't quite get if cafe breakfast is gone, or its still there but with eggs as an option?

Did they drop CD so they could offer Eggs on the flight??

Also I noticed this doesn't include Asia routes??

You could be right. But nevertheless I am sure cooked egg items will be a welcome addition. Wonder how they will get away with chorizo on the DXB route (all food has to be halal so no pork allowed)..

Well, praise be to Qantas :)

Although the café breakfast discussed:

The airline has taken plenty of flack for its cafe breakfast which typically consists of a bowl of muesli or other cereal, a fruit salad, yoghurt and a bakery item such as croissant or toasted sandwich.

... wasn't what I had when I started the http://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/qantas-frequent-flyer-program/tale-2-brekkies-qantas-cafe-49859.html#post812591 thread. In that case it was a warm ham and cheese croissant and a tea or coffee, nothing more.

Also good to see this from the AusBT article posted above:

Barstow also confirmed that Qantas would introduce its ‘Select on Q’ pre-flight meal ordering to international economy class this year, allowing passengers to choose their inflight meals online before they even step on the plane.

There JohnPhelan - I can praise Qantas ;)

This is excellent news. QF has shown they are capable of listening to their paying customers after all.
Hopefully this will continue :)

ExBKK, HKG, SIN, NRT....all seem fairly Asian ports to me:confused: (at least the way I've read the ABT article, there will be egg dishes as an extra option pre arrival into OZ)

And I assume this is being introduced as yet another optional extra the punters can choose to purchase ...

Thanks for pointing this out, how did I not see this... must be like the 1st July FF changes, simpler and fairer!!! :D
I only saw "The revamped breakfast menu from Dubai, Los Angeles, Dallas/Fort Worth and Johannesburg include a choice of a full breakfast (such as scrambled eggs on toasted brioche with chorizo, tomato and chickpea ragout), the lighter continental breakfast or the time-saving express breakfast."

Can you imagine the confusions in economy as the stewardesses and stewards try to hand out pre ordered meals with seat swaps and all the rest of shifting that goes around.

I think it will create a nightmare for the economy cabin crew who already battle to keep 300 or pax calm etc during long flights.

It does help the crew a great deal if pax who have SPMLs, tell the crew if they are moving :D (they note this on the 'list').... in my past experience.. most do.. a handful don't, (and then abuse you because you can't 'find' them..but that's another topic:D)

Happy Flying :D

That's a fair jump to that conclusion. Could have just been a random move that just happened to be in the right direction. Statistically speaking, how many poor "enhancements" in a row could they possible do in only the negative direction.

</tongue in cheek>

It's not that big a jump. Red Roo has been taking note of all the complaints about the Cafe Breakfast and also reported to us that something was going to be done about it.

In this case, QF have listened and have responded in a positive manner. Long may this attitude continue, indeed. Although it might be better if they didn't make the stupid decisions in the first place that result in all the complaints!

I didn't think I could have been any clearer that I was being facetious

Well, it definitely appeared as though the Cafe Breakfast had been replaced by something involving eggs on QF6 the other day as the menu showed an option with eggs. Lovely I thought before going to sleep. The only problem was I did not get offered any food at all, just juice and tea. My wife wasn't offered anything at all and a couple of other pax appeared to be offered drinks only. I guess only being half awake prevented me from asking for it, but I really shouldn't have to. The service from one of the two FAs on the top deck was decidedly lacking from the manner in which the safety demonstration was given to not offering pax food.

QF, what on earth are you up to?

IIRC you are given a menu to tick what you want and pre-order at dinner.

Where is this 'perfect world' you speak of, where no-one makes 'stupid decisions'? It certainly wouldn't be inhabited by humans. :D

i think QF needs to ditch its advisory panel - whoever they were. On the one hand the advisory panel tells them they want cafe breakfast, and on the other everyone complains.
