Recently flew FCO-SIN-MEL with SQ in J and was more than a little disappointed not to be offered an amenity kit of any description - especially as the first sector was 12 hours overnight.

Retrospectively, I've read the Penhaligon’s amenity kit is 'on request' and fair enough if they're looking to reduce waste. However, when I asked, I was rather curtly directed to the supplies in the toilet. Not quite what I had in mind.

Probably worse, was the lack to the more common eye mask/ear plugs/slippers/socks offering that is usually waiting on the seat. Not on either flight. A request resulted in a more polite offer of an eye mask but the ear plugs never turned up. On disembarking, it was clear a significant number of other passengers, had received these kits but not all.

I have no idea if this is the new SQ or whether there was a supply issue. Either way, if you're planning to travel SQ in J, be sure to bring ALL your home comforts with you.

Reading quite a few posts recently it would seem things had returned to more "normal" however there have been some inconsistencies. When did you fly?

Yeah, it was fairly inconsistent on my trip Mar/May (SYD-SIN-LHR Ret). pretty sure there were eyeshades/socks- they might have hiding in the storage area - but didn’t see any earplugs on four sectors (fortunately I packed my own).

Small amenities kit on 2 of 4 flights.

Flights were on 22nd July FCO-SIN followed by connection to MEL 23rd July (2022)

I always carry my own ear plugs so didn’t notice their (non)availability on my flights last week. Socks and eye masks were available on request. Amenity kits were at each seat on boarding. Extras were handed out to those who asked. I read CE’s report that Fcl amenity kits are in short supply, it doesn’t seem business ones are!

You should have flown Y. When I asked for ear plugs on my flight last week, I received an amenities kit with ear plugs, eye mask, socks and toothbrush delivered to my seat. Just what I needed for an attempt at upright sleep.

Got eye shades and ear plugs on my flights about two weeks back when asking. No amenity kit though and pretty much everything (including the pre-boarding drink and most refills during meal times) had to be specifically asked for. No hot towels either which I know many don’t care about but which is an essential part of the flight for me.

All blamed on Covid still (of course) so I am hoping it will be back to normal when I go SQ again in September. As that’s currently not the Singapore Airlines I know (and am willing to go out of my way for).

Agree. Hot towels are good to clean your hands before a meal, and to wake up in the morning, Outbound from Au Thai had no less than five hot towel services! Coming back on SQ, none! But, SQ had menus, TG did not.

We had a fantastic flight on SQ economy (short haul to coughet) but a mediocre long haul in business. The long haul was ‘fine’, but not to the usual pre-covid levels.

I’m flying to SIN on Sunday, can I confirm my memory of noise cancelling earphones in J? I don’t mind bringing my own, but it’s one less thing to carry if they are available.

Yes, noise cancelling, and reasonably good. (well, at least for me, I’m not much of a connoisseur though! They are certainty streets ahead of qantas international business class ones)

i flew SQ 4x last month in Y, i could have sworn there was the little pack of socks, eyemask and ear plugs for the SIN>AU segments each time.

Yes, noise cancelling headphones were available in J. Waiting at the seat (in a nook) in a small clear plastic cover and with 'hygienic' thin ear pad covers - which I didn't actually use.

cool, just as I had hoped!

Fab, thanks!

According to the inflight menu site here, amenity kits/masks/ear plugs should be available. Having said that, this sort of stuff should be more proactively made available, rather than having to ask...

I think it’s still a typical “Covid” issue which gets dragged out a bit to save money. I even asked and no love, even on the overnighter.

Same from CNS to SIN. I was aware I had to ask as it has been noted in this very forum over the last few years (and pre COVID in timing at that) that SQ stopped providing business class amenity kits but will provide specific items on request.

I flew CDG-SIN-MEL last month and was offered amenity kits on both legs. On the SIN-MEL leg I was given two Penhaligon kits just prior to landing (as was the passenger across the aisle from me, I suspect they chose her because she was next to me and I seemed to have been the object of their random VIP treatment that flight!)

SQ hasn’t provided amenity kits in business class for about 15-20 years. They had the one off special, but now have the penthaligons ones. Those are supposed to be available on request - they were on our flight from SIN to CNS. And then the other items like socks, eye masks and ear plugs are in addition… also on request.
