Should we support our local bubbles producers over French bubbles producers? Is the argument not the same...

I think the difference is that we can't produce some items in Australia. Those are fair game to be sourced elsewhere. We can't produce Champagne or cognac or a variety of other liqueurs in Australia.

...but we can produce sparkling wine that tastes the same as various "champagnes", as well as distilled wine products eerily similar in taste/texture/effect to Cognac.

It has to be French for my money , otherwise NZ mainland.

Can anybody give me an explanation why French or NZ dairy is better?

I actually did a unit of Dairy Sciences and just wonder why the taste difference considering most Dairy companies use similar processes to make dairy products.

Different pastures and different cows ?
We can't compete with the lush green pastures of France and Denmark was the explanation I was given when I asked that question at a dairy stand at the show.
Presumably NZ is lusher and greener also.
I thought I had died and gone to heaven when I first tasted President butter in France, and bought it while it was on sale here.
I thought I had detected it at a restaurant, but they said " no, it's Western Star"
It would be interesting to do a blind taste test.

A Holden or Ford is not a Mercedes. If they were, maybe people would have bought them. And they'd still be in business.

I do not know where to start here and do not wish to get into an argument or appear nasty to the good people on this forum.

Chapangne: We produce amazing wines here, sparkling and others. Have never purchased wine from overseas, france NZ or anywhere else.

Dairy/cows: The cows here are exactly the same breed they have in NZ and Denmark, and the grass quality is just as good and our farmers are better at doing it here because some of our soils are not as good and the conditions can be harsher.
Everything grown here is clean, green and also why buy food from thousands of kilometers away when it could be sourced right next door?
Farmers in Australia are some of the most efficiant in the world.



Cars: Have owned nothing but Holdens all my life and found them great and reliable and relatively economical to maintain compared to European models.

We really can produce everything we need here and then export a whole host of stuff.

If everyone did there bit and supported local industry where possible the retailers would be forced to stock more of our own locally grown produce and locally built goods.

I think we have some really good dairy districts in Victoria and Tasmania that are often overlooked by the populous.

They are not overlooked by the foreigners eg. Warrnambool Cheese and Butter.

It will be nice once most of our major agricultural lands and companies are owned by foreign countries and corporations.

yes partly... but certain European cars are often market leaders in aspects such as safety.
