Wondering if anyone can provide guidance.

I've booked a Business Saver reward return trip in business. Being we wanted to lock down dates (honeymoon), we didnt want to wait to accumulate further points to get to first.

However we are well on our way to getting the required points.

Q: does SQ allow us to upgrade to pay the difference in points if seats are available in first over our already booked Business?

Is there Saver availability in F/R for 2 for your required dates? Then yes, they'll be able to "upgrade" you. However since this is a change of class, this will require a cancellation and reissue but the one call should have it all sorted anyway.

There isn't, but there are very similar dates where there is some availability and waitlisted availability.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

After finding the dates, I tried to waitlist myself. No such luck.
Spoke to online chat, they were able to do it. However, I firstly had to print off the dates as their system could not see the 1st saver fares, even though I could. Very odd.

Have since received email confirmation that I'm waitlisted for those flights.

Now fingers crossed...! Depart 29/09/20.

New update:

Thanks to COVID-19 we are now getting married Jan 2021 (will we though?)

So have rebooked the flights and was able to get Suites SYD-SIN, First SIN-LHR in Saver.
Was unable to get first on the way back, so had to book business saver. Now to find some waitlists.

After the effort it took (search engine doesn't show SYD-LHR for some reason, had to call), I hope everything will be back to normal by the time we set off!

Edit: to change it cost about AUD$50

Weddings in Oz can still go ahead, just with a maximum of five attendees (?) under the current rules.

People are still able marry, if they choose. Have I missed something?

I don't think you're missing anything. You are right. People can definitely still get married with a very small number of people (Havent looked into that exact number though).
