Two observations for flying PER - MEL return this past weekend.

Flying PER - MEL was a B737. They were more than willing to allow economy passengers (escorted) to use the front toilet. If I was sat in business I would have complained cause I felt that added more insult to injury. I know the B737 is pretty lame already.

Flying back MEL - PER was an a330 an "The Business" was quiet. Once the cabin door had closed, they invited two economy front row passengers (travelling separately) into "The Business".

Was kinda shocked as I thought both were "no-no's" for Virgin to keep business elite.

What has the world come to? Low life low-socio economic economy pax abusing the dunnies. My shrink will have so much to explain.

No worries; I expect your shrink will charge an arm and a leg and you'll have to share the couch with a couple others. :)

Mildly annoying in my opinion but at least they were trying to control the process (escorted).

That's a bit more serious. Would you consider reporting it? Bearing in mind that if you did, you would still never get an explanation either way. It's difficult to think of a legitimate reason why this happened except maybe medical or extremely high value and previously inconvenienced customers? :D

It's the thin end of the wedge. Economy Pax from the front rows (ie probably WP or above) being allowed up front, what next ?

I've had this happen, very frustrating.

Another thing I don't like is when an FA forgets to block the J cabin (by standing in the aisle between cabins) when deplaning and the cabin fills with Y pax eagerly trying to exit the aircraft.

To be fair. Sitting there, trying to zone out and if you are seated on the right you get to enjoy seeing people in and out of the toilet, sometimes they have barely finished what they were doing in there so Ive seen people come out waving their hands around to dry them or zipping up and/or the nose pickers (I don't watch IFE).

I do laugh at the little white magnetic thing that's suppose to create the zone of exclusion but isn't that what J class about? Not be be bothered by the masses?

There is absolutely nothing worse than the CSM extending the (company) hand of gratitude to passengers with on-board upgrades! Personally I hate it, but rather than cause a fuss, I always accept these upgrades. I make a mental note to complain, but funnily enough, I always seem to forget...

As for the toilets...

[/sarcastic rant]

Come on - I am interested - what exactly frustrated you? Is your sense of entitlement so high that you feel because you are in the front two rows of an aircraft, no one should be able to use the toilets except you and the other 7 PAX in that cabin?

Far out...

I think there is barely enough room in there for one let alone two

..because why should someone who pays for a service, expect to be entitled to that service?

I agree re the toilets, they should be exclusive.

But as for people being bumped-I think that's fantastic! How many times have you been stuck in economy just dreaming of the tap on the shoulder!

It happened to me once on the way to NZ and I still rave about it today. Mind you I pay for my fair share of business tickets, as opposed to the majority who would be travelling on the company card...

To clarify, they even had a queue at times at the white divider for people wishing to use the front toilet.
All what was happening for the last hour was economy passengers walking through (escorted) to the front toilet.
So for a third of a flight all what was happening in business class was economy passengers walking through to the front toilet.

(All three toilets on the aircraft were operational.)

If I or my company had paid for a ticket, or I had used points redemption to be in business class (on a payable fare an increased differences of approx $1,700) I would have expected attentive service (which wasn't possible as the FA's were focused on escorting the economy passengers to the toilet), I would have expected prompt service if I wanted something to eat or drink (again FA's busy), if I wanted some peace and quiet (which wouldn't have happened with the constant walking past). Lots of niggles.

However, the underlying point of a divider is to prevent economy passengers entering business class which VA was very, very strict about years ago.

When I travel in Y I either avail myself of the facilities on the ground or walk to the back. Even as a P1 this was my line of thinking.

I don't understand why others can't stick to their cabin? I'm beyond no means a DYKWIA-type. It's a simple rule.

There will always be those who cannot understand the rationale of a more expensive ticket for a bit better experience, but it's been going on for eons (remember the days when the stalls were cheaper than the back seats at the cinema?). Heavens, how rude are all those musos that allow their promoters to sell the front seats for more than the "general admission" areas about two city blocks to the rear!

As for the OP, I'm just wondering what they were feeding them all to have a queue like that. It seems there may have been a real need. Was there any reported gastro event? Other than emergency (better to have it in an exclusive loo than on the floor), or a mobility challenged person, the J lav should be for the J pax....seems easy enough. I personally am also against the FA upgrade scheme. I think the slight benefit of an exclusive J cabin is one of those genuine advantageous departures VA have managed, away from the QF model.

There were two mobility challenged and elderly who used the forward toilet. That was totally fine and there's zero problem with that.
Other than that, no excuses. One guy who was allowed to use the forward toilet had ordered a lot of alcohol so naturally we know what happens then ... He was a frequent visitor to the forward toilet.

I agree ... the former may have been an unusual circumstance, the escort seems to indicate so.

The latter is indeed cause for concern and I believe should be taken further.

Not acceptable... I see a major part of J class as the privacy/quietness/space as compared to Y class.

The Perth 737 flights are no different to NZ on a 737, and when i've been on those flight the J toilet is for J passengers.

If they were Club they would likely have already been upgraded on the ground if there were free seats.

More likely staff or friends... nothing that can be done unfortunately as they can class it as an 'operational decision'.
