Bumped from a QF*EK code share flight - which airline is responsible?

After superb redemption flights with SQ from Milan, we had planned an 8 hour stop in Singapore. The plan was to check our luggage in for the paid flight home and enjoy the hawkers market for a few hours.
But..
Checking in 7 hours early, we were “offered” voluntary denied boarding (an oxymoron). Flights were booked, paid $$ and ticketed with QF on a QF/EK codeshare.
EK strongly coerced us into accepting their “kind offer” and taking their compensation because even if we said no now, someone would have to be offloaded and it could be us if we didn’t agree now.
We knew that there were other direct QF flights departing same day, rather than having to wait 24 hours until the next flight (& being a day late back for school and work) but EK refused to let us change to one of flight them (even though there was still availability on those flights).

Can anyone confirm who has responsibility in this situation? I would have thought our contract was with QF, but EK say it was with them.
EK also made us wait in the airport for over 5 hours while they prepared the vouchers etc for meal/flights/accomodation etc so by the time that was all sorted we were way too exhausted to visit the markets 🙄

To make things worse, none of the flights have come through to our QFF accounts so I’ve got to chase that as well.
 
Welcome to posting on AFF @MollyJones . Codeshares are a can of worms, especially when things go wrong.

The plane was overbooked by EK and at the airport, they are the ones who call the shots, even if your 'contract' was with QF. If you did happen to call Qantas to try and get a resolution, they would instantly (and probably correctly) say its an EK issue.

Maybe they picked on you (and others) because you were Qantas customers, not theirs. You'll never know.

Sorry I can't be more helpful - if the airline wants you off the plane, you'll be off it. :(
 
And to bring further joy to the story, QF are not awarding any points as we didn’t board their flight. 🤯
Shouldn’t have to jump through hoops for them to figure this out but it seems that is what is required.
Back to SQ and velocity I think.
 
Thankyou for the term to use. So far, I have given them the original booking reference and the email with the original e-ticket.
I’ll use their terminology now & hopefully they will get their act together.
