As I said, looking at USA to SYD options one way and return, probably did 10 to 15 searches in an hour on QF, CX and AA over two hours on same device from varying airports, SFO, LAX, DFW, JFK, always to SYD. Next am, get a bonus 50% QF SC offer, if I book a flight to SYD in next 7 days. Email header says SYD flights only, tncs dont specify as long as QF flight.

Anyone else got this recently?

We are about to enter an interesting new era of price discrimination. Two people with the same flight, same day, same postcode same cost to the airline to deliver. Different price.

Funny bit is, looking for sept and oct 19 flights, offer is for upto march 19. Ugh idiots

Easy ways to circumvent this if you have some technical ability, otherwise just use a TA.

Umm airline pricing has always been like this, this is what the fare letters depict (different fare pricing on the same flight). Also bonus SC are not currency. It's an incentive for the person to complete their booking, essentially a marketing tool.

I would have thought that has been the case for eons..

Yep, finding out what the person seated next to you paid for their seat vs your price is a good lesson in seeing Capitalism in action.

I beieve @ftm is a rather experienced TA and would be aware of fare buckets.

Given that, I find their comment interesting.

Except as said, that literal scenario is already the case.

But taking the implications from the comment, it would also make the TA business unviable for most as they could not advertise a price and sell it at that; it would just be made up on the spot based on the same criteria.

At first glance these posts and mine may look the same, but they arent. We know what triggered mine. It can't be a coincidence I spent a few hrs the day before researching flights, logged into QF, on QF, CX, and AA. I also used the QF SC calc to work out how many SC i would earn from varying combinations.
Then you'd think that I'd be a prime candidate for specialised tailored double SC offers as I soend more time than most researching flights. Wrong!

Was about to say the same. I can and do spend long periods of time searching flights. Never had an email as a result.

Maybe it has to do with the fact I havent taken a qantas flight in i'm not sure how long... must be years, as I've been living overseas. 4 3K flights this requal period, about to go WP through QR, BA and UL flights only. Last year...no QF flights. year before, none. Maybe my last was SYD to DFW Aug 2015.

First time i've paid my way to WP (all 6 yrs prior was work paid for). Incidentally, it cost around 5.5kaud to do so... is that good? I only really took maybe 2 trips I may not have otherwise to do so, the rest either I paid a higher fare class or J, so the calc is the difference in the trip Y cost to J or Y+.

Same here. I spend a ridiculous time procrastinating on Qantas and other airline sites, just looking up flight combinations that I “might consider taking” and never got anything like it.

Then again- I sure enough end up really buying enough flights in the end to re-qualify for my Platinum Status anyway. So Qantas would be kinda silly to make me such an offer! I think the trigger here is an algorithm a bit more complex than just “having browsed for flights recently”. Or, there’s no algorithm at all and something much more simple triggers it, who knows!

Wishe they would hurry up and send the offer to me before I need to book MEL to Newport News via SYD - LAX and Charlotte - and return a few days later!
