The flight I booked on Monday is now $500 cheaper under this deal - that makes me mad ... I could have had more shopping money!

Oh well, I guess you never know ...

Get the ticket refunded and buy it again online with your MC

If the ticket allows for cancellation with low (under the cost differential of $500) or no penalties, then that would be worthwhile...any saving is extra shopping money.

Those two nominated are both decent deals....wish I had a reason to head there...

EG, $3363 Return in F to SIN.
and $1170 Return in WT+ to SIN.
I wish I hadn't read this thread because know I am interested in going again in September/October. :?

I'm glad I read this thread! I have to make at least two more trips to SIN this year, and the price is great. I will try to lock down my dates next week and will consider making both trips in F. Which would take me to within 40 points of making WP... :?

It really is a very good price for F and WT+ as I indicated above. ~50% off the full rate.

Looking at some consolidator sites, I can't see anything less than about $4000++ for F. On some other booking engines, I can't see anything less than $5000++

WT+ at that price is a steal as well I think. I wouldn't expect to see it much below $1500++.

The London prices aren't that special IMHO.

Makes me nearly feel like I'm on an industry fare flying F for that price :D

Its a good price ex Oz to SIN/BKK. Not so great from NZ when compared with eg EK's fares.

I've just booked myself a SYD-SIN return trip in F on one of these 50% fares. Great value! :D

BTW, even though the deal is that you pay with your Mastercard, the website still presented all types of CC's. I was tempted to pay with my Amex but decided against it in case it all went horribly wrong and they hit me up for a full fare.

Anyway, the system has auto allocated me seat 2A on BA016 and seat 2K on BA015. From the seat map, it appears that there are only three rows in the F cabin. 1A and 1K are taken on both flights but rows 2 and 3 are both available. Can anyone tell me which they think is the best position in the F cabin?

Stick with row 2 for now, and check for row 1 availability with on-line check-in 24 hours before departure.

I found out with some creative searching you can create a flight which looks like SYD-BKK//SIN-SYD for a price in between the SYD-SIN and SYD-BKK ones. May be handy if you have business in both BKK and SIN.

Also noticed the "Choose your credit card", but like Yada Yada, not sure if the wrath of BA may be forced on anyone who uses a different card.

a 100% repricing fee back to full K/W/C/A etc would hurt seeing there are always discount fares floating around in the market for much less than the full fares.

Mal, I would be interested in how one can book the above. Would it be possible for WT+ as well? The BA SYD-SIN flight does not make the AY SIN-BKK connection which means an overnighter in SIN and a non OneWorld flight the next morning to BKK. It would be worth the A$50-100 extra to be able to go SYD-BKK//SIN-SYD.

Anyone care to try this? Surely if a final cost is displayed on the screen and you are then allowed to choose from a list of credit cards then the final price stands.

I would not try this, as posted, the penalty may be quite expensive.

Easiest way is as follows.

* Make sure there is availability on the flights you want. You may need to do some test "return" flight enquiries to ensure the 2 flights you want have the availability.
* Go through the normal booking process by clicking on the "BUY" button for the outbound fare you are after, then click on the button for "If you are travelling one-way, want to make a stopover in either direction or wish to return to another airport, then please click here."
* Enter in the dates you want SYD-SIN//BKK-SYD (or vice versa).
* Select the flights for BA9/10/15/16.

Should price out half way between the SYD-BKK price and the SYD-SIN prices. If it doesn't there probably isn't availability on the days you are after, or you missed one of the steps above. I just tried it for WT+ and it works absolutely fine with a quote of around $1250 for mid May.

I'm not sure if this is technically allowed under the promotion, however it does price out properly. I tried to track down the fare rules for the WFF Fare Basis to see if it was allowed, but couldn't find it.

I found this while trying to search for a way to add my home airport onto the beginning/end of a trip - not possible unfortunately, so had to book a seperate tix for that :(

I strongly recommend against doing this. If BA wanted to get nasty (if they found out ... not a clue if they would or care) they are able to deny you boarding unless you pay the full fare ex discount. Could be a costly exercise - but hey, if you want to take the risk...

You sure know how to spoil someone's expectations. :(

Yes, I agree. I went back to the page where the offer was explained and it clearly stated that the deal was that you had to purchase with your MC.

Now the real important question...

Who is, or knows a Commonwealth Bank employee?

http://www.britishairways.com/commbank

Want to spill the beans on their special offer?

"1. Offer is valid to CommBank employees and their families only.
2. Offer is valid for departures until 25 January 2007.
3. All travel must be completed within 12 months from departure date from Australia.
4. Offer is subject to availability.
5. The discount will apply to the lowest booking class available on the nominated day of travel.
6. Offer is valid on British Airways operated flights only.
7. Offer is valid for travel from Sydney to Singapore, Bangkok and London only.
8. Airfares are not transferable and seats are limited."

I think they get the same discount, but don't have a requirement to use Mastercard. Don't know for sure!

But probably invalid if they use a Westpac credit card :p .

How do I know for certain that if I book and pay for SYD-BKK//SIN-SYD at the price you mention that I won't get asked to pay for 2 full priced one-way fares SYD-BKK and SIN-SYD when I try to check-in. I remember reading on "Libya it is then" thread on FT about all the possible bad things that can happen travelling BA.

We go back to the question of responsibility. If the BA website prices out a route like you mentioned above then as far as I am concerned this is valid. If I am issued a ticket and booking reference then this should be honoured at face value. Why should I have to cross check if it technically allowed under the promotion. It is up to their software to be able to detect whether it is valid or not.

What is it with BA and their stupid re-pricing at check-in policy?
