Yes, it took off from SYD at 1151 hours with DXB arrival forecast for 2146 hours.

On Thursday 4 June 2026, BA16 (B789 G-ZBKC), the 1435 hours SYD-SIN-LHR was cancelled, with the aircraft overnighting in Sydney.

On Friday 5, as BA16D, it took off at 1615 hours so will be more than 24 hours late arriving at gate in Singapore.

It is very unusual for BA16 to operate this late: the '15' and '16' have good timekeeping almost always.

That is unusual. And as a UK carrier they will have had to get the pax to their destinations whatever way they could. No “come back tomorrow”.

Yes, when Brexit happened the UK essentially copied EU261, so it is known (colloquially at least) as UK261.

BA16 continues to be mostly punctual, but on Wednesday 1 July 2026, B789 G-BZKL on this 1435 hours SYD-SIN took off at 1537 so gate arrival in the Lion City becomes a suggested 54 minutes late at 2154 hours.

I was sitting in World Traveller Plus next to a lady whose flight BA15 was cancelled on 24 July so BA put her up at the Fairmont in SIN for 2 nights as there weren't any seats until yesterday.

According to her, they were already at the boarding gate for the original flight but it was delayed a number of times before being cancelled around midnight due to lack of a spare part.

As a result, BA16 the following day was also cancelled (which also happened to be the same flight my sister was booked on) and it looks like the aircraft (G-ZBKC) is still in SIN.
