The Monday 21 September 2015 BA15 arrival from SIN and LHR is an expected four hours and 15 minutes late into SYD - 0920 instead of 0505. It is unusual for this flight to be significantly late. It is one of a handful allowed for half the year when schedules are earlier by an hour into Oz to land pre-curfew in SYD.

This aircraft may need significant attention as the return BA16 is to be delayed in its departure from SYD (timetabled at 1530 today) to a forecast 1120 on Tuesday 22 September, meaning hotel bills for BA in accommodating non-local passengers one would presume.

BA may be a large to 'large medium' sized airline in comparative terms but with its own metal is one of the smaller operators to and from Oz in terms of flight frequencies, with just a daily LHR - SIN - SYD rotation.

It is normally punctual but on Friday 27 November that is not the case with BA16, B773ER G-STBL having just taken off at 1925 hours from SYD to SIN despite its 1610 hours timetabled departure. Given that only Queenslanders and prisoners have their evening meal at 1700 or 1730 hours, waiting for a meal until 2030 has its advantages for any connectees ex 'Mexico' who at least during daylight saving may prefer to dine (Spanish style, so appropriate for BA with its Iberia tie up!) late.

The sole BA daily flight out of Australia (SYD) continues most days to be extremely punctual but with challenging weather in SYD on Wednesday 13 July (and possibly single runway ops for some of the day), BA16 to SIN, the 1455 hours, took off at 1605 and is due in Lion City at about 2224, 74 minutes late. Aircraft is B773ER G-STBB.

BA16 at this time of year is the 1630 hours SYD - SIN that on Sunday 13 November 2016 is unusually for it running late. It took off from SYD at 1701 and should arrive at about 2214 hours, 44 minutes tardy. Aircraft is B773ER G-STBF.

With a sole daily flight into and out of Oz each day like BI, it is most unusual for BA to run late. However on Thursday 22 December, G-STBE (B773ER) on BA15, the overnight from SIN should arrive SYD 37 minutes tardy at 0727.

As shown by the small number of times it features here, BA's sole daily flight to and from OZ tends to be very much on time.

However on Thursday 12 January 2017 BA15, the overnight from SIN to SYD is arriving at 0721, 36 minutes late with B773ER G-STBK.

On Friday 13 January, most unusually, BA16, the 1630 hours SYD - SIN did not take off until 2001. Arrival is predicted as 0017 on Saturday 14 instead of 2130 hours this evening. Aircraft is B773ER G-STBD.

Delayed by the severe afternoon of Friday 17 February 2017 Sydney storms, BA16 (1620 hours SYD - SIN, B773ER G-STBA) took off at 1748. It is extremely unusual for this flight to be late: one might say it has close to a Japanese standard in punctuality.

29/4: BA143 a 787-9 service between LHR and DEL made an 25000 foot emergency descent in 7 minutes over Brussels, turning around over Luxemborg and returned to LHR.

It was replaced by another and arrived into DEL at the crack of dawn the next morning instead of midnight

The 1450 hours SYD - SIN (BA16) must have one of the best timekeeping records of any international flight from Australia, in line with flights to Japan.

However on Sunday 28 May it is running half an hour late with arrival likely at 2135 as it did not take off until 1532. Aircraft is B773ER G-STBA.

Unusually, BA15 into SYD on Monday 29 May and BA16 back to SIN tomorrow appear to have been cancelled.

This looks like the reason for both:

Thursday 8 June 2017 unusually sees BA16 (1450 hours mid afternoon SYD up to SIN, B773ER G-STBH) not becoming airborne until 1605. It should arrive in the Lion City at 2201 tonight, 56 minutes late.

BA continues to be largely punctual with its sole offering to and from Oz but on Wednesday 2 August 2017, BA16 (1450 hours SYD - SIN) took off at 1520 hurs mid afternoon and is expected to arrive at 2135, half an hour behind the timetable. B773ER G-STBH has the task.

It is still very rare for BA to run late on its daily, sole northbound offering from SYD to SIN but on Monday 2 October 2017, BA16, the 1550 hours scheduled departure did not take off until 1808 with B773ER G-STBH. Arrival is estimated at 2305, exactly two hours behind schedule.

It is rare for BA16 (SYD - SIN) to be late.

While BA (with only a single daily flight each way) may be one of the lowest profile airlines operating in and out of Oz, it certainly isn't taking teh crown for having the highest percentage of late flights.

However the single runway ops in Sydney due to winds 9runway 25) on Saturday 12 May claimed many flights, among them the aforementioned that took off at 1537. Arrival in SIN should be at 2138 hours, 33 late. B773ER G-STBF is the aircraft.

BA15 does not often run late but on Sunday 29 July 2018, arrival of the ex-SIN B773ER G-STBH should be at 0644 hours, 94 late in SYD.
