I've got an engagement with some of the colleagues from my research centre which is going to delay my going to these drinks.

No idea how long you are going to be there, but I might turn up late for a round and a chat; say, 8.30pm or so, if that isn't too late. Or, if the host (with the most, it would seem ) wants to kick on at a lobby bar afterwards, can do that too.

If the rain isn't too bad I will swing in for a brew and a meal before my usual Wednesday night (playing trivia with friends in the Valley). However if the rain is a pain, I won't do the double commute.

Hope you can make it mate but I totally understand that you have work commitments,I doubt that I will kick on too late as due to a business issue I now have to return to Albury tomorrow instead of Friday so have changed my flight,I'm booked on QF 513 in the morning which means a pick up from the hotel at 6 AM,if you can't make it this time then we will make it the next time I'm here.

Brisbane has certainly changed a bit since you last spent more than a day or two in town.
