BP Bonus Points Promotion

Hmmm, the transaction hasn't posted from last night - done at 6.09pm and I thought it would be straight onto the card at 9am this morning as it was an electronic version. Just have to wait until tomorow...unless it's been quarantined to be checked :?:

I don't know about BP....but since watching my account more than I used to (due the no limits promo) I have observed that many transactions made after about 4 or 5pm take an extra day to show up, but they do eventually get posted with the oriiginal date.

I was as happy as Larry when I saw my postcard, until I read the very last small print: $50 minimum spend.

I know most people will need $50 to fill up their car, but I converted my car to LPG, and only cost $25 to fill up full, so this promo is completely useless for me. Dammit!

$25 LPG
$20 Itunes card
$3.50 Pie
$3.20 600ml Coke Zero (to balance out the pie)

Bonus points are yours.

Well, I can confirm the BP promotion does work for those that have been sent the card (thus automatically registered) and then use BP before 30/11. My transaction showed up this morning:

Code:
Date Description Amount spent Points Earned Bonus Points Total Point
14/10 BP EXPRESS $72.10 72 396 468

That's great Lindsay, unfortunately I don't drive that much so I only fill up about once a month! On average I will probably fill up with BP every 2-3 tanks, so not that frequently, interesting why I got the bonus 1000 points plus 5pts/$ combo.

I might just have to drive a bit more in the next month or so, I'd like to at least get 2 tanks in the promo, perhaps get someone else's car that needs fuel and put it on my card :D

I'd presume that you filled their brief for that offer, as I did for their other offer. The offer with 1K bonus that you got is better than my option IMHO.

Ah, he sees one of the open flaws in their T&C's.;)

Ah, he sees one of the open flaws in their T&C's.;)

There are always flaws in promos. A few examples for this one:

A staffer in BP decides to take cash for fuel, but run the charges through his Amex card.
A person stands outside the BP, offers "fillup" service, then takes cash and charges it to his amex card.
A family member of a BP merchant utilises the system for their benefit.
People find "cash worthy" items for sale in BP (eg a Gift voucher), buys them in $50 lots and then offloads them through other means.

No matter what promotion is on offer - people will find ways to skirt around the T&C's.

That's the most viable option I reckon! Only flaw in this reasoning is that if you resell vouchers its very hard to sell them for face value, because in the eyes of most a voucher is not worth as much as cash, unless its a prepaid Visa card, does BP sell those? If so that could be a very nice little trick!

That's concerning my points only show a Plat credit bonus. I got the card too so think I better be calling Amex straight away.

Lindsay (& others),

Apparently there is a glitch in the system that is posting some members BP bonus points immediately and other not till the stated "8 weeks" after window. They are apparently correcting this and future payments are unlikely to see the bonus until after the 8 weeks. Will be interested to hear what happens with your next purchase.

Not throwing my invitiation away I can tell you that much:)

Would be nice to know a couple of cross country truck drivers during this promotion!!

paul4471, that is just priceless (pun intended) - can't Amex even get a much simplified promo working properly :confused:.

If you have worked with the some of the programmers I have worked with over the years then you would understand. The changes work perfectly in test for months on end but as soon as they are moved to production all hell breaks loose....

Mine posting immediately too, I've had 3 now and all coming through the next day :D

The promotional card I received did not mention an ending date; I thought someone here said it ends Nov 30th?

Anyway a couple of days ago I went to BP for the first time in years, I normally avoid it altogether coz they seem to me to be the worst rip-off of all the petrol outlets.

Haven't seen any bonus MR points yet. Actually I don't know that I will bother going back to BP again - my car will only run on 98 octane and I calculated the fill cost me $0.06 per litre more than it would have cost me at Coles Express with a docket. So my fill cost me about $3 extra to get about an extra 370 MR points. Hmmm....

With oil down to about US$72 per barrel BeePee and the other Oil companies in Australia are making a KILLING at the moment so paying for a few extra AMEX points is chickenfeed for them. Frankly I would much prefer fairly priced fuel than a few measly MR points.

Are all servos in your area priced the same?

I know many bike riders only use BP Ultimate, because they say their bikes turn to cough when they pull Shell in. They say Shell is the worst, then Mobil.

Yeah well my car dealer said he found Caltex the best, I tried it and found it a bit worse. Some European engines seem very sensitive to the fuel octane rating, I guess the regular fuel here is a bit coughpy. I certainly avoid anything with ethanol in it, quite apart from the fact that you get lower milage on it.

I usually use Shell V-power, but the BP Ultimate seems at least on a par with that. I have 2 Audis and they require 95 octane, but the 98 seems to work much better. My dad has a big v8 S-Class Merc and swears by BP over Shell, so who knows!

As I haven't found a big difference, I will probably go back to Shell after the promo finishes, perhaps that will help with being targeted again for the next BP offer :p

Wouldn't count on it. I don't use BP and I wasn't targetted (do use Shell generally). Anyway, its hard to pick who the next promo wll be with.
