I flew BNE-TSV-BNE on Fri / Sat. I'm WP and was seated in 4D / 13C, with empty middle seats both ways. On the flight out of BNE, soon after take-off a FA came around with a tray and distributed small bottles of water to me and a few other passengers, mostly up the front. I could see the FA had a list of names and seat numbers, so I'm assuming the water was only for WP, or maybe for SG too. The list looked like it had about 8 (maybe 10?) names. Not something I have come across before. For the rest of the flight I was called by name. No special water run on the return to BNE, but addressed by name throughout and asked if I needed anything at various times. All up, it was impressive service and two really good flights in Y. As I haven't previously had bottled water served before service, I'm wondering whether this is something new, or have I just been missing it?

[-]I didn't get this recently - whenever water was served it was always in a glass.[/-]

Ahhh, thought the OP meant J. My last Y flight was about six weeks ago and there was no special in-seat treatment for this WP.

I had this to CNS recently, and also from TSV. Both the water and addressed by name, when others are just addressed by title.

On all domestic Y refreshment flights I've always been given a bottle of water/juice as has every other pax... however all my domestics are golden triangle routes so I wonder if this has anything to do with whether you are given a bottle of water/juice?

i was certainly addressed by name on my most recent Y flight in row 4 B737-800 as a WP, but no water

From memory I was given bottled water on Friday but that was when they were collecting the trays not at beginning of flight. I did not ask for it and I think there was only one bottle left of the trolley and she handed it to me.

I was offered complimentary wine today when it is a bar service. Went down to use the toilet at the back and got stuck there for ~10-15 minutes as both trolleys were out and the FA said I can bring both trolleys back to let you get through but I said to her not to worry I will wait. At which point she offered me some wine.

I should feel special....

What size bottle? If it's the 250mL Mount Franklin then that's the one everyone (who asks for water) gets...?
I've never seen an FA come up to (presumably) WPs, or any other pax, in Y and offer them water before the main service.
Must be new, or a one-off.

About october last year flying PER - CBR in Y was offered a newspaper before takeoff.
Than after take off after the seatbelt sign was turned off ,FA with list in hand offered myself and a few other pax
wine, juice or water before the regular inflight service.

yea i got the little rectangular ones

Was there bread to go with the water?

Pete, now with mixed feelings about making Platinum

I've had that once last year.

I have to date never had any special recognition (whether in J or Y) on a domestic sector. Only have had it on an international sector. However, I only fly domestically between SYD and MEL so there's not much time to do anything!

I've seen (and taken advantage of) water runs with the bottles, but had always thought it related to some leftover/returned bottles from meal services....

I've had the offer of bottled water at the beginning of a flight a few times on the BNE-CNS route this year and once MEL-BNE. Each time I was in row 4 and also got a personal greeting form the CSM. Seems to be something some CSMs initiate.

Coming back from Sydney last week there was bottled water offered to Row 4 but as I was in Row 7 I obviously did not rate! Though I must say I was asked by name by a different FA if I would like to have my coat hung up. So that was something at least.

I noticed that when seating at row 4 on 737's the service for WP is more personal. On top of the greeting by name I was usually offered a glass of water and on some accessions a glass of wine from J.
While when sitting at row 13/14 I only got the personal greeting and sometimes a small bottle of water.

JetConnect do a great job of this, looking after WP in 4/5 and exits.

Quite often I'll find 4/5 pre set up with pillows which is a nice touch, then the staff usually fuss over you. I have also routinely had J class meals given to me on JetConnect very discreetly once even with a little personal scribbled note!

Did Q Jet Connect recently in J BNE/AKL/SYD, greeted by name, FA supplied his name advised just ask and he'll be there, usual juice & wine before take off, water available, service and food excellent, could not fault.

CSM paid me a visit on PER-BNE flight holding bottled water in her hands.

Welcomed me aboard and she mentioned that I have been on a few of her flights and I must get round a bit.

Handed me the bottle of water, she looked a little embarassed while handing me the water, and asked me if there was anything I wanted not to hesitate to ask. From what I could tell she only visited a few people around the front of economy on what appeared to be a lightly loaded flight with many vacant seats.
