IMO - Bluff oysters are the best! NZ$15/doz.....perfection in a shell.
Almost. Next time I bring home 30 kilos of Oysters from Coffin Bay, I'll let you know. Awesome!

I am more of a lobster / crayfish fan myself.
I get the whole oyster thing, but for me there are other shell fish I prefer. Makes it nice for ALH as she doesn't have to share

I'm a late convert to the oyster......mid 40's & only taken a liking to them in the last 10 years. IMO the bluff is the most impressive in taste & sight.

On Stewart Island (off the coast from Bluff) last year a friend ordered 3 Bluff oysters as an entree. Well, to pinch Blackadder's turn of phrase, these oysters looked like their mother had been rogered by an omnibus! Huge! I'm sure they tasted good too.

No, it's off. bossreggie contacted me and it's been delayed. He's over in London at present until after the opening ceremony

I have booked accommodation etc for the Quay lunch would like to do something as an alternative.

That's a pity. I believe several of us have booked non-refundable fares. Shall we plan an alternative lunch somewhere?

I will be in Sydney on the 11 and 12 August, I am going for a run on the 12 August so if anyone wants to suggest something, "Haydensydney"

Who ( how many) is / are going on the day? What day did you want to have lunch?
Saturday? Sunday?
I need a quick status run just need 10 SC's before my NZ trip.
So lunch works for me. Likely to do a down and back in one day though.
Saturday or Sunday suits.

Has anyone been to felix on the ivy.

I thought I had PM'd or spoken to everyone re a postponement.

I apologise to those I missed. It is fair to say, I have been somewhat preoccupied with other matters of late so I dropped the ball on this one.

Out of the 20 people who had originally said they were coming.... There are only 1 or 2 who had booked flights or who were flying in especially. The majority are SYD based, or had not booked anything.

If the couple of people who have booked non-refundable tickets contact me directly, I can offer the following alternatives.

1) I will refund the amount for your flight.

2) I will donate the amount you paid for your flight to a charity of your choice.

3) When the lunch is re-scheduled, You will have 1st option. If you can attend, the amount you paid for your current flight will be taken off the cost of the lunch.

4) I will PERSONALLY book you an equivalent flight (Qantas Only) which will give you CL access for that particular round trip.

5) Have fun in SYD anyhow....

I think this is as fair as I can be.

This has turned into a big couple of travel weeks for me so I really had to let this pass.

Not only the UK... But also USA and Shabangabang are all on my list.

I blame benmay for this!! :) (He will understand this.... It's NOT actually his fault!!)

Sunday would be my preference as flights and accommodation already booked around Sunday lunch. I haven't been to Felix.

Likewise, Sunday (August 12th) is my preference as I have flights booked to/from Sydney for the Sunday.

Keen to try any restaurant. I also haven't been to Felix. Any other recommendations?

Looking forward to catching up with other AFFers.

All things being equal. Sunday it is.
Felix is probably more of a dinner spot, no view and down an alley, but I like the French Bistro style of it.
I am sure , some more knowledgable than I will have some good suggestions, .....fish and chips at Doyles
