Hi friends,

TLDR: I'm looking at the best way to spend my points, my wife and I would like to go away somewhere and we have a trip planned to NY next year for my 30th birthday. Could I book an OW Melbourn to JFK with the stopover for 145k if I call SQ up directly? I just need to be in NYC by the 25th of April.

I'm currently at 190k miles and I'm looking at booking a one-way ticket from Melbourne to JFK stopping in Sin and Frankfurt. The saver ticket is 145k OW basically there's no availability and only waitlists for the saver however on the dates that I'd be interested in flying I can see availability if I book them separately. My question is could I call SQ directly and try and get one of the customer service agents to book my flight paying the $100 to stopover in Frankfurt on business saver? Or would they say it's 211k points instead? I could instead go with the 190k and get the complimentary stopover but my goal is to earn another 100k points so I can book a ticket for my wife also. The great thing about this itinerary is we'd be able to spend several weeks travelling Europe before going to America. Flying around the US domestically before getting an OW home.

I understand the option on a OW saver to pay $100USD for a stopover has been removed.
You can apparently get one on a OW Advantage, but the stopovers are now limited to 30 days.

From as recent as May it seems I can still do it if I call up. Alternatively, is there a better use of my points because doing this will require another 100K points for two people?

KrisFlyer redemption rates increasing [from 5/7/22]
pretty much explains it.
I understand if you do a Saver Return (Round trip), you can have one 30 day stopover.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thanks @vmile, taking a look now. Looks like I missed the boat on this one. So I'd really need another 190k points before March 2023 to redeem a flight in J for Melbourne to JFK :/
