Tried booking AA.com

Noted Aussie flag at top right.

Inserted country of residence

Got good fares, tried to book, entered credit card. Changed billing address country to OZ, then website asked me to re- search by first entering country of residence.

Fares then x10 of what was available

Any suggestion?

Thx HVR!!!

Ill await the 3 seats to be put back into the system as the system is currently at the higher fare bucket.

Do you leave country of residence as OZ or pretend you are US resident?

Oh and clean out the cookies etc, use CCleaner or similiar program Otherwise it may recognise your previous attempts at purchasing tickets from Australia and default you back to the Australian site.

Don't change to Australia. Enter your street address and then the Suburb is El Segundo State California and Zip 90245. Credit card as normal.

Have done this with no problems in the last fortnight.

See post 301 in this thread: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....us-run-options-quick-35258-8.html#post1502663

Post #302 reminds people to just ignore the postcode for Oz addresses. I've never used nor needed the El Segundo hack.

i recall someone else mentioning a zero in front works for postcodes. I wouldn't be surprised if 00000 works also (occasionally works in petrol stations with pay by CC at bowser).

Arrrgh, they have updated there website now I can't even access the award booking page from my iPhone :-(

Yes I use the 0 in front of my postcode for Caloundra-but 04551 is a postcode somewhere in Maine. That way my CC address is correct-they don't worry about the 0.
Funny that the address Caloundra,QLD,Aust.04551 is recognised as being in the USA.

The address isn't matched to your credit card. I put in a relatives address (where I will actually be staying) and had no issues paying with my Australian Amex card.

Possibly due to not clearing my cookies but i have tried several times over the last couple of weeks to pay with an AUS CC and even after trying all the methods and different CC's i still get the same error "Our system is down, please try again later".. Have to call AA everytime.

The AA website isn't working at all today with the Australian flag. It lets you type in the search fields but then never produces any search results an says server not responding.
The US one still works though.

If booking on the US website, go to advanced booking and change the residency to other and it will accept Australian cards.

Where exactly is that "other" option? I recall doing that previously but it's changed.

Just did a booking today LAX-SJU via AA US site. Took three goes before resorting to the El Segundo method (which worked). But prior attempts were exactly like the OP. At the CC payment page, it defaults to "United States" as billing country. If you select Oz it basically says bugger off to the Oz AA website and start your search again (and if gullible, pay a huge fare difference). AA.com has always done something like that, but there was a "Blank" or "Other" country workaround that appears to have gone?

The silly thing is, you can go to Expedia etc and book the same fare with them....

Fingers crossed. Booking seems to have been accepted using El Segundo method, just waiting to confirm as ticketed.

Update: all ticketed ok in about 20 minutes.

Perhaps mods could consolidate these few similar threads and update the sticky with the latest AA booking news?

I love that this community is hard at work looking to optimise bookings and travel even on a Sunday! :)
