Looks like double status credits this cycle is replaced with this offer which rewards you bonus credits depending upon how many flights you book and travel by the 28th of March.

Not really comparable to a double status credits offer in my book but better than nothing.

What I do like about this offer is that the booking and travel period are the same, so there's not the same pressure to plan way ahead and book right now that you got with the previous double status credit offers.
Having said that, the bonus earning potential on this is much lower than in the past, so I don't like that. I'll be curious to see how (or if) QFF responds to this. Overall though, I'd say it's not a good sign for the future of double status credit offers. That particular type of promo may have run its course...

This offer may reduce the status holder heard - plenty of people got to gold and platinum on the back of dual DSC offers last year. Maybe this is a way to still offer something while pulling back the amount of status holders.

It's a pretty poor offering in comparison to a DSC offer - for example, one J class return flight BNE to MEL under DSC earned a bonus 160 status credits. Under this offer, that same J-class return would only earn 45 bonus, a reduction of 72%. The comparison for mutiple return flights is even worse.

Would've thought they still want to keep all the QFF status matched people trying to maintain the status.

In Y though it wouldn't be too bad. 6 golden triangle flights giving 125 SC would be more than double. But it caps the SC earning.

But, you can score 45 bonus SC for a short status run for a fraction of the cost, eg Syd-Ballina for $49 e/w in lite gives 55 SCs, up in the morning back an hour later, for $100. Doing that could easily help people retain gold.

Yeah, doesn't seem awful for people just doing a couple cheap domestic flights.
Is this correct?

6 x Lite = 5*6 + 125 = 155 (95 SC over 2x)
6 x Choice = 15*6 + 125 = 215 (35 SC over 2x)
6 x Flex = 25*6 + 125 = 275 (Worse than Double though)

Seems relatively cheap for some extra credits.

Wonder if a single booking with 2 connecting sectors counts as 1 or 2 eligible flights?

I think this is aimed more at masses to try and get them enticed into the status ladder without giving away higher tiers easily for those that know what they're doing.

It may also entice some QF people to switch some flights over the next couple of months.

Like until my QF anniversary renewal, I've qualified already and any current domestic hops don't generate too much in the grand scheme of things. In fact if this deal was here a couple of weeks earlier I'd be at the VA lounge now instead of QF at BNE.

Happy to take up this offer, as I'm chasing QF LTG, as I already have VA Platinum in the bag for next year. My year for both programs is 28 February, so I may push out a couple of trips to March in order to profit from this for 2025 re-qual. Nice to have something different - maybe 2024 will see a change to this short, sharp extra SC offers from VA.

It’s a good offer for those of us who book the cheapest option possible. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it looks like even lite sectors count towards the bonus.

If you don't need the eligible sectors
I’ll get 8 over the year, easy. I usually get my eligible sectors on my international flights because I connect from HBA. I always choose an option with a VA flight code on the domestic flight and it then it counts as an eligible sector.

Additional detail in the marketing email says that previously booked sectors are still eligible if you activate the offer in the app. That’s a nice plus compared to the normal DSC offer. View attachment 368962
It looks like you still have to book during the promo period though (12:01am AEST 29 January 2024 to 11:59pm AEST 28 March 2024 (inclusive)). I don’t think my flights booked 6 months ago for next week will count. Then again, I’ve had exiting bookings count towards promos before, despite similar wording, so we’ll wait and see.
