Flight was chockers. I was surprised that I was able to move up to 26J&K at such late notice, but happy none the less.

You were able to move to 26JK as it was blocked for your and Mrs BE :)

Just imagine Mrs BE's thoughts if you hadn't been able to move....

Another scenario to consider is if the flight has a light(ish) load then computer would ensure that the passengers would be spread throughout the cabin. I think this has something to do with balancing loads and conserving fuel. Off course you can always ask to be allocated a new seat (as you did) if there are seats available.

This is only really relevant for the little planes - like the Beech 1900D I flew yesterday. Half a dozen pax scattered around the cabin and many seats not able to be selected at check-in (interestingly, they were shown as occupied on quick-check-in rather than a special code for blocked).

It was a long enough day as it was let alone having to wait for a full 767 to unload.

I think my wife's comments would have been along the lines of "what is the point having Gold FF status, rant, rant, rant.....". It was bad enough going from BNE-SIN-SYD as my ticket (was a work trip) was booked only 4 days before our flights and it was the furtherest back I have been in a long time

556 on Sun 14 was operated by OGE, one of the ex Tasman, now in Domestic config 767-338's.

Last flight SYD-BNE on a Sunday night; was probably full of Elites. I guess those seats became available due to someone either upgrading or moving to another (earlier) flight.

Serfty,

what was surprising was the amount of children on the flight. Is it the end of school holidays? Without kids I do find it difficult to know when they are on holidays.

I was very impressed with the flight as our departure time was scheduled for 2105, we didn't depart until 2125, but we disembarked at 2235, bang on time!! Guys did very well making up the time
