Just want to check I'm not losing my marbles.
I'm currently at LAX waiting for QF11. After finishing my breakfast in the F Lounge I wandered along the corridor to the J Lounge. The Lounge Angel looked at my BP and advised me that I should go to the F Lounge. I stated that I'd just come from there.
She then said that QF only allows me to visit one lounge and that as my BP had already been scanned I wouldn't be able to come in????
I looked as surprised as I was and stated that I just wanted to look around and had already eaten.
She relented and let me in "on this occasion" as you are just here to look around.
Surely this is incorrect?

FWIW both lounges are as dead as a dodo just now so it's certainly not a capacity issue.

Sounds like a lounge angel not knowing the rules and making it up as they go along (that's never happened before has it. :) ).

On the other hand maybe an enhancement?

I did the same thing last month and had no problems.

You would think lounge attendants would know the rules better than us...after all it's their job to know!

I wandered around and had a seat to collect my thoughts - AKA start posting about it on Social Media :D
The First Host came and found me to check I was ok. I explained what had happened at the front desk and he stated that the information given to me was incorrect and I was welcome to use either lounge as I please.

I suspect the Front Desk sent for the First Host to enquire after the self-downgrader :D

That's really nice - the sort of service you hope to see!

One hopes the front desk person has now been properly educated and doesn't make the same mistake twice.

I was assured that he would follow up with her regarding the confusion over lounge access.
Don't get me wrong she was perfectly polite in that almost uniform American service way but she couldn't be made to see that she was perfectly incorrect.
Mind you if she had been a BA Dragon there's no way I'd have gotten through the doors of that J Lounge without calling for a supervisor - small mercies :)

I degraded myself yesterday morning. Went into the Flounge in Sydney, only had 15 minutes before flight, so asked for a double JD. The lady at the bar was extremely nice and pleasant but explained to me that they are not allowed to serve a "double", even to someone as time-poor as myself. So I walked next door to the J lounge and served myself a triple.

No problems accessing multi lounges in Sydney.

Didn't try to take it back to the Flounge with you? :)

I was a bit bored in the LAX F lounge a few weeks ago, so wandered out and ended up in front of the J lounge. Thought about going in, shivered, and went back to the Flounge. ;)

Same policy at the LAX TBIT lounge! Asked for a 'strong' bloody mary... but not allowed! AA lounges on the other hand have no such problem.

I always prefer self-serve. Works very well in almost all lounges I ever go to. But I guess in Australia the lounges are full of those dirty, hard-drinking, loud-swearing, ill-mannered, hi-vis wearing mining types :p

They may be concerned that you may reject your oh-so-comfortable F seat onboard and seek solace with the poor unfortunates in Y!

degraded? Perhaps a typo or intentional? nothing wrong with a double JD :)

Random question about multi-lounging:
Each lounge allows you to being in one guest. Could you guest one travelling companion into the F lounge and another into the J lounge?

One can only hope the host then heads down under to impart his superior lounge access knowledge on some of his misguided Aussie colleagues.

Who knows ? I did note that there was a super cute (male) Aussie barista in the J Lounge conducting some sort of training with the staff.

Multi lounge access - just like the 5th element ........ "Multi-Pass!" to Floston Paradise! Enjoy your trip.

True drinking Jack Daniels is seen as a bit "bogan" these days but its actually a pretty good quality spirit. Not quite degrading yourself but slamming down a double in the morning does seem a bit desperate. A Single Malt scotch would be a more sophisticated choice and might do more for the self esteem.
