Not a concern for me at the moment, but I had a thought just now.

What is the best way of keeping a minors account active if they don't fly for 18 months?

Would logging in through QF Mall with my daughters account to buy something from a store using my CC work?

Do transfers count as keeping an account active? Or am I thinking about something else where doing a transfer doesn't count?

No they dont, but transferring the points out to the parent's account who has credit card activity will keep them from expiring. The parent can then transfer them back to the child's account after the next time the child actually flies.

Good point.

Status credits never expire in the same way right? (aside from the annual reset)

Lifetime Status Credits don't expire but the annual tally (the annual tally is used for qualifying for temporary status) is reset at the end of each membership year which is based on when the flyer joined the QFF program.

Also if you transfer the points to you you could always use them on your kids without having to do a points transfer back (e.g. you can request a points upgrade for a family member).

imo as the parent you bought the flights and it would be fair for you to keep the points.

Note that the minimum for a points transfer is 5,000 points so you may need to transfer some points to the child in order to be able to transfer out the child's balance.

The only concern with you keeping the points if you keep your own account active would be if you expect to have a tally above 600,000 (the maximum to transfer out a year) and think there's a high risk that you're likely to pass away soon. Upon your death your account is terminated and all your points forfeited.

A trusted family member may be able to transfer your points before QFF becomes aware of your death but if you have more than 600,000 points (the maximum to transfer out a year) some points will be lost.

Would using the Qantas Money Card be recognised as activity on the Frequent Flyer account? My daughter's points are at risk of expiring but she doesn't want to buy something just for the sake of keeping her account alive. However she does use Qantas Money to buy petrol.

Using Qantas Travel Money Card will work.
But it is transferred to QFF at end on month if purchase though.
Even a Aud$1 stamp will earn .25 points.
You need $4 spend on QTMC to earn 1 QFF point.
Buying petrol for car or anything at any fuel outlet with QTMC will earn QFF points at end of month.

If she is already using qantas money to buy petrol, is there already earning? The quickest way to get points activity for free the Qantas wellbeing app. Link to QFF account, set a daily goal of 1000 steps. Points will be there in about a week.

Otherwise, buy qantas wine for points within a few days.

Think buying on eBay with QFF number directly will work.
Try it and see.
I have not bought from QF mall but do buy off eBay with my QFF number and points always appear in my QFF account.
I'm not really following? The only way to get QF points through eBay is to go through:
https://shopping.qantas.com/

Qantas wellbeing app is free. can earn a handful of points weekly.
+100, this is a set and forget action that will keep your points alive virtually forever whereas all other suggestions require remembering to do something every year or so.
