Hi All,
MrGlider and I are headed over to the states on September to do a three-week jaunt from LA - Vegas - San Fransisco. I'm pretty ok with accommodation in LA and SFO and to a lesser extent the places in between, but I'm interested in people's opinions on where to stay in Vegas.
I'd really like to stay in one of the flagship strip hotels to get the Vegas experience you see on the movies. Something like the Bellagio, MGM etc. Neither of us are big gamblers, so we won't spend forever at the tables but want to have a look around, maybe see a show etc. Also interested in firing some big guns in the desert and head over to the Grand Canyon for a night or two as well.
We'd probably stay for 4 nights and about $300 per night would be really pushing the upper limit so no Presidential Suites for us! Unfortunately it looks like we’ll be there over a weekend, probably Sep 12-15ish. We might otherwise pass through Vegas twice on our way to and from the Canyon and only need the ‘Vegas Strip’ experience once, so am happy to stay somewhere else better value out of the way the second time through.
I can just look on Booking.com and Expedia to find some deals and follow up via the hotel websites direct, but having never been before if you have any suggestions or know of good tips for either the hotels or the area, that'd be great.
