Best seats economy A380?

We had the exit row seats on the top deck on a Singapore Airlines A380 a couple of years ago; had to pay a bit extra for the exit row but it was worth it. 13+ hours with nobody in front leaning their seat back on me! Bliss!!!
 
80A & H are the row behind the exit row, but don't have seats in front due to the exit door protrusion so there is plenty of leg room and no chance of anyone reclining in front of you.
Because they are not exit row you don't have to pay (extra) for them, but they are very popular and hence difficult to select. You make strike it lucky if you check seat selection at T-80 or T-24 though.

Upper deck on SQ A380 (I think 3rd row back) was not too bad although seats feel a little too tight to me and overall the space feels cramped.

Tried 80K on QF A380 recently and to be honest it was nothing special other than not having someone reclining into you a big bonus. Being able to see the person in 79J and everything they were doing throughout the flight is a little off putting.
 
Any thoughts on the economy seats on the upper deck? Not sure of the row number, but one from the very rear sounds appealing. Mini cabin (I assume) and exit row.

Seat guru doesn't show these as economy, but the QF seating map does. Any reason this section should be avoided?

Also, does one board through the upper deck, or being economy does one get the pleasure of walking all the way to the back downstairs and then up the stairs (ie be probably the very last to disembark)?

Soon enough, all the 4 class QF 388'a will have this configuration.

I got into that thread late and did not look at all details. I have a SYD-HKG flight coming up and the return in January 2013 and I cannot see upper deck available so thought nothing of it.

I will need to keep an eye out on future configurations....
 
The wife has 32K booked for tomorrow. I will report her opinion once she gets back. However, from what I can tell it looks like no cut-out in the bulkhead. However, the window seats have bins which is looks like you could put your feed up on.

Does anyone know how the 1st row in economy on the upper deck is. It looks like a bulk head seat! It also has 2-4-2 arrangement?

The bulk-head at row 32 is not a "cut-out" style. Its straight to the floor. But the leg room is good and significantly better than a regular seat. And the window seat locker comes in handy too.
 
I assume row 32's are only available for pre-selection for WP and above? For my flight in 10 days time, row's 32 and 33 are blocked (as SG). I'm in 71D anyway, so we'll see how these seats compare to my previous flights in 50C and 80K.
 
Probably. Wife is silver...row 32 was available at T-80.

Can anyone provide a link to a good thread which explains the key timings to watch out for with Qantas seating... explaining T-80? T-24 etc?

i got back from LA yesterday and had 71D both ways.

thumbs up, great seat (i'm 6'5). just prepare for lots of questions from the other pax about how lucky you are and how you got it
 
I recently traveled in 35K ("window seat") on the upper deck in economy. The leg room is excellent, with no protrusion from the door (unlike the 747?). It was a little cold, but nothing the blanket didn't overcome. IMO 35J/K are the pick....DEF are great for leg room, but I noted some passengers tripping over the extended legs of seated passengers in DEF whilst walking to the lav. The last 2 rows in economy can be a bit of a scramble for overheads, as some of the overheads are quite small. But overall a very nice "private" cabin arrangement for those lucky enough. The cabin service is reasonably quick too.

The seats themselves are quite interesting, they both slide forward and recline. I imagine the recline is less than the "regular" recline only seats. I found even with the huge leg room I couldn't sleep in them....but that might just be me more than the seats.

I must say for PE customers, a bit of a disappointment losing what was (and current still is on the remaining A380's currently) an outstanding PE cabin.
